Which is cheaper, getting braids and wraps done at the bahamas or on the ship. MY sister and I want to get it done but which one is cheaper?

Do you have to make an appointment to get the braids done and can you get them done as soon as you board the ship? My 4 girls had them done while in St. Maarten this past December and it was great (no brushing hair!) Also, how quick are they? My girls got them done at the same time but it still took 2.5 hours for them to be done.

Another thing - what was the cost per person?

Thanks

My daughter had it done on the ship. It was by appointment, can't remember where to make it. Don't quote me but I think it was $10 or around there plus tip. Hope this helps:firefight

Thanks for the info. $10 is very cheap, we paid $50 a head in St. Maarten!

I believe its cheaper off the ship.
$1 a braid off and $2 on the ship.

I think the difference between the $10 and the $50 is the service. The $10 is a hair wrap which is different than a $50 set of braids.

If you choose to do it on the islands, set a price per braid and limit ahead of time. You don't want to end up paying 470 or something. Most of the girls will give you the today only special of $1 per braid. But set a limit of about $40 so they know and there is no confusion.

Hair braiding on board is primarily by appointment. They usually do it by the Goofy Pool on sea days. The times for sign up are in your navigator.

Price is $2 per cornrow, $1 per regular braid. My DD needed about 14 cornrows for her headband style, and I paid $35 which included the tip. I think it took about 45 minutes to do the braiding.

I personally wouldn't do it off the ship, even if it's cheaper. I was comfortable that the DCL braiders took good care of their brushes etc. It's also much more comfortable to do this in the shade, while the boat is moving at a good speed and a nice breeze is blowing instead of sitting in a hot stall while all kinds of people are shouting "pretty lady, braid your hair?"

And be sure to use lots of sunscreen on that exposed scalp. I swear by coppertone spray sport, since it dries immediately and isn't greasy like the lotions.
