bag searches.....

Will you have to get in the search lines if all your carrying is a woman's small over the shoulder purse? Do they mean purses, camera bags or just anything? I can probably go without the purse, maybe a fanny pack, but would rather carry it for a bandaid, chapstick and sunscreen. What have you experienced? Thanks .....11 days and counting!

every bag, purse, fanny pack, cooler, diaper bag, etc, is searched. What we usually do is I take the bags, usually 3, & go through the security line. My wife takes the kids through the gate (no bag, no search line), & I meet them inside. speeds up the process.

and would just unzip it and he/she would look thru it and one or two would say...."you travel light"...but I do not mind the few minutes it takes...just have everything unzipped and opened and it helps with the security process.....worked for us.....

Gawsh, I still wonder what they're after, besides extending the illusion and a false sense of security at the gates...

Searching bags did not stop a sociopath with a bomb hidden in his sneaker, envelopes with anthrax or hijackers in planes with box cutters...

I hear ya Treelife.... but they are still doing it and employing people to do so... in a way boosting the economy a bit.. but yes they are still doing it and some are a little more aggressive in their search... like opening all the little compartments in a purse and my phone carrier... etc. others just quickly look in and that is it..

They checked me every single time last February , it didn't take them more than 10 seconds to check me out with my fanny pack already unzipped , they told me the same thing they told Pumba, that I travelled light.

We just got back on 7/20, we never had to wait more than 3-4 minutes at each park. Remember each inspector has people line up on both sides of the table, so take the shortest line. It goes faster if you have every bag already open, even all the small zipped compartments of a backpack,etc.

its quick and painless... even in the mornings when the mobs are showing up...

One of the inspectors even threw DW a curve... seems he had a problem with DS Scoob Doo backpack... we promised to get a Mickey backpack and he let us in.

My experience was they checked everything but they were quick. If you have a backpack with different compartments they will ask you to open them up. If you are prepared ahead it goes faster.

It's really not that bad, but my wife found that for women, if you put a few feminine products at the top of your bag, and go through a line with a guy checking, they don't even want to touch it for some reason. You get the half second glance and they tell you you're OK.

Yup... the 9-11 hijackers would have said the same thing: It was a quick, painless peak into our bags... "hahaha"

imho, these bag checks have nothing to do with real security. Not only in WDW, but museums, parks and tourist places all over the country, including Wash DC, most security guards do no more than peak into the top of my purse. No one has ever gone through my stuff. I think it's more for the people to FEEL secure. I'm sure anyone could easily hide a no-no and get thru the gates.

Back in April when my wife and I went throught the back entrance to Epcot (from Beach Club) we wheren't even stopped to check bags (even though we where carrying some). The security guards where just sitting there talking. I really don't think these bag checks accomplish anything.

Maybe DW should get an x-ray machine?

On Thursday, July 10 I was behind a guy at MK who looked to bringing in water for his whole family--4 or 5 bottles on straps. The security guy made him take a drink from each one........got me wondering....I hope they were his family (germs and all)
