Bag search at parks

I know that it is ok to carry in a bag and small cooler to the parks. I also understand that security will search your bags. My question is, do you have to dump everything out, will they stir it all up, or just a quick peek? I ask because I will have it neat, and I do not want to have to repack everything, but I understand about the security issues :)

As long as they can see everything they usually do not touch or rearrange items in your bags. I usually take out larger items like my camera or wallet so they can see to the bottom on my purse. The smaller the bag, fewer number you have the quicker you get through the lines though.:wizard:

I found it to be different each time.
some just took a quick peek, others took out my camera and took it out of the case, and also checked every compartment in my bag
the only things in my bag were water bottle, autograph books, camera, bandaids, kttw cards, cash.

some put their hands in and moved things, others didn't.

If you want to make sure it stays neat, try using small ziploc type bags within your larger bag. If they can see everything, they won't bother pawing around.

I have never had to dump everything out of my bag, but I don't usually have a fully stuffed bag. My bag is an messenger style bag and usually is packed light enough that they can see to the bottom of it without having to move stuff around much.

We bring a backpack that has a small cooler in the bottom. Big enough to hold a few water bottles and some snacks. We open it for them ahead of time to speed the trip through.

Remember that you can't bring glass bottles in.

My experience has been as long as they can see what's in the bag, you won't have to pull stuff out. I've seen them use a pen sized instrument to gently move things around to thoroughly inspect bags. I've rarely seen them ask people to take stuff out of a bag.

On a side note, I've found that if you have things open and ready to go, the trip through the bag check goes far more smoothly.

Bags and small, soft sided coolers are fine (no wheels). Just remember that you can't bring in anything in glass bottles (exception for medications) or alcohol.

In my experience they will only ask you to "unpack" your bags if they're chuck full of stuff and they can't easily see inside.

I bring a very unfashionable, but super functional fanny pack, and I just unclip it (they won't check bags on your person - you have to take them off), and unzip the 3 compartments so they can easily see inside. I've had some CMs with a little stick just kind of gently move things aside so they can see, but that's about it.

I have seen people going through with tote/shopping bags packed full who were asked to take everything out, and occasionally I'll see someone with a packed stroller asked to take things out, but for "regular" sized bags/coolers, it's usually quick and easy. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies. I will not have too much stuff in there, snacks, water bottles, ziplock bag with Tylanol, bandaids and ofcourse, kttw, cash, small sunscreen, lipbalm.

We just got back from Disney and DD12 and I were the only ones who carried bags into the park. Halfway through our trip DD noticed that the men just took a quick peek and the women were the ones who unzipped zippers and really looked closely, it was weird after she drew my attention to it we switched off every day and it was the same in every park.:confused3
