Bag check queues

The last time I visited WDW was in 2011 & I can't really remember bag check. Are the queues really big to get into the parks now due to bag check?

Just trying to work out how long it will take us to get into the parks.

Bag check queues are not a big deal. Just have all of your bags (any bag at all), off your person and on the table and opened (all compartments) and you'll be fine. I think the longest I waited for a bag check was maybe five minutes on a bad day.

Disney now has scanners for only selected people (my husband was selected twice) where you have to take out any metallic items from your person and place them in trays so you might want think about putting coins into a plastic bag or something (my husband carries a LOT of coins so he was not happy) but it really was a painless process.

We were there for 11 days. 90% of our bag check queues moved very fast. There were maybe 2 times that I picked the wrong line and got held up. A couple of them were almost too thorough, and slow lol. Even that took no more than a few minutes tops.

Have your bags opened and ready to go and it shouldn't be a problem.

DH was randomly selected for the scanners twice during our trip. It went super fast also.

Side note. I didn't realize until day 3 that everyone did not need to go through the scanners. I guess I just randomly selected our whole group...oops!

It doesn't take long at all. I wouldn't worry about it. I always have mine open and all pockets unzipped to get through faster.

I've always had a longer wait going into MK before RD on busier days but mostly it doesn't take long at all.

Thanks everyone! My hubby reminded me that there were bag checks when we went in 2011. They obviously weren't a problem for us as I had forgotten!

Yea, I was going to say that the bag check has been there for longer then 5 years. But, as others have said, if you take the time to make sure all the pockets of whatever bag you are using are open, it will be a very quick thing, unless, of course, you are bringing in an item that is not allowed.
