It's 10:20 on Monday, Dec 21. Bag check is a solid sea of people stretching back to World of Disney. I've been waiting for about 15 minutes and then expect to wait about 10 more. Just want to let everyone know what to expect!

Yeah...that's how it's been just about every time I've been this year. Hang in there. It's the busiest time of the year! But so much fun!

I'm sure a lot of it also has to do with the increased security screening on top of it being Christmas week.

Get there early! Bag check is not an issue unless you get there late. By 10:20 the lines inside DL had already reached unbearable levels.

Holy moly!!! And I'd imagine they have all sorts of lines open to bag check to deal with Christmas break crowds. I know it was pretty bad on Vets Day week, even showing up 30 minutes before rope drop. But not that bad. Good luck and get there early.

I really wish DL had a no bags line like WDW does.
They did have them for a time. But there were soooooo many people who were attempting to use that line because "my friend has no bags, so I can come with her/him". Or "The stuff in my stroller isn't in a bag" "It's a just a diaper bag" "My purse isn't a bag" "Only one person in our group has a bag, can't he/she come in with us?"

And so on.......

So it was stopped.

Rats! I always wondered why they did this. With so many locals, I always wondered why DL of all places wouldn't have a no-bag line. Now it makes a little sense. It's like line-cutters.

Out of curiosity, are the security lines the longest mid-morning? What about late afternoons? If we take a afternoon break to return in the evening - will we be faced with long security lines?

I can't imagine they don't have the same issue at WDW yet they have continued to use a "no bag" line.

I don't have a dog in that race though. I always have a bag.

I will say that bag check lines were crazy long on a random Monday morning in late October when we were there. It was the only day we didn't do early entry. We didn't make that mistake again.

So, if we can't make it there prior to rope drop (I know, awful!), what is the next best time to get there if 10:00 - 10:30 AM is bad? Is there a better time leading up to the 10 timeframe?

All I know is - there used to be one and now there isn't. When I asked I was told, "too many people trying to use the line with bags".

Maybe WDW can handle the line backups better when there are people with bags in the "no bag" line, can't say.

Honestly when I was leaving at around 11:30-11:45ish the lines weren't that bad to get in at all but I could see a rush of people coming towards the bag check so I am assuming that the 11ish area isn't as bad. But the lines to get into Disneyland [through the turnstiles] were the worst imo.

We entered about 930a on Monday. Line was to WOD, took about 8 mins to get thru. All tents were open. I was thinking it moved pretty fast.

Yesterday we entered thru GCH at 9am, no line. Whole group was sent thru the metal detecter. We had 2 kids with us, but as they go to a lot of MLB games, it was a breeze. Didn't even slow us down a minute for everyone.

:faint:

It took us 45 min to get through on Sunday at 8:15. 20-30 min at 7:30. Still had a long line Tues at 7 am in the rain. I don't think I'm going at Xmas again...
