So in the last week, we've found out that DH has glaucoma (apparently youngish guys can can get a type where the pigment flakes off their iris and blocks drainage) Although they found it early, he already has peripheral vision loss. More worrying is that we took DD for her yearly "well child" check. They had concerns about her growth, and also found a huge amount of protein in her urine sample. The bone age test showed that her bone age is over 2 years older than her. So now they say that she has some form of dwarfism, and are sending us to an endocrinologist to see if there is a pituitary component. And a nephrologist, to find out why she's showing signs of kidney disease. And a geneticist, b/c it's a little unusual for a kid to have all her neuro stuff (ADHD, ASD, Bipolar, Dyspraxia) a new Epilepsy dx from last month, a sclerotic area in her brain MRI and now these two new issues. I'm feeling really overwhelmed right now. And of course, with all the stress my Fibro and RA are totally flaring so I can barely walk or use my hands. Ugh. I'm sorry to complain, but I just really needed a virtual hug from some of ya'll, b/c I know you "get it" Part of me knows it will get better(I think) but, I'm scared too- I really hate being a nurse at times like this- I know just enough to be dangerous, kwim? My brain keeps going through all the things that could be wrong. Well, I've gone on too long already, and can't type anymore. Thanks for your patience.

Sending lots of hugs that you can keep. Sounds like a lousy week for you. Anyone mention precocious puberty? The endocrinologist can help you there. I know what you mean about a nurse-mom. I hate knowing all of the things that can go wrong.          Karen

:grouphug: sending you a hug and if my mom was still here she'd be sending you tons of hugs hope everything goes well

Hang in there, one thing I have learned with medical test is that doctors tend to interpret them based on what is common or what is within their experience when in reality there might be 100 other reasons for the results. Take a deep breath, continue to investigate and keep an open mind about the possibilities.

Relax as much as possible and take care of yourself also.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I hope you get the best case scenario for all the "off" results. Please take a little time for you--just 20 minutes for a nice bubble bath can help. I know how difficult "me time" can be, but it really sounds like you need it.

  I hope you get some answers. You've got a lot on your plate, don't neglect your own health.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your support. Somehow I knew ya'll would understand:goodvibes .

A thing to keep in mind with medical tests is that coming up with a diagnosis or making sense of all the test results can be a little like putting together an 200 piece jigsaw puzzle when you don't know what the final picture will be.
And, some of the pieces may not actually belong to the puzzle you are working on.
And sometimes it's not one 200 piece puzzle, it's actually two 100 piece puzzles that are mixed together.

So, the more pieces there are, the easier the puzzle is to interpret.

Thanks, Sue
I always hated as a kid when you were trying to put a puzzle together and half the pieces were missing; who knew that it was good prep for "real life";) I really appreciate your view about how all those extra "pieces" can actually be a big part of the answer. I needed that. Thank you.

 Here's a hug from one nurse-mom to another. Some days (weeks/months:rolleyes: ) just suck, don't they? I hope you get some answers and some relief soon.

    And here are a few more!

Hang in there!

Karen

What a terrible time you are having at the moment. I shall be sending you a great BIG Koala cuddle all the way from down under.
Times like this are so tough but just try to take it one step at a time (which is easier said than done, I know).

Trish

sniff, sniff, "Thanks ya'll" I really appreciate your hugs, they mean the world to us right now. I know where gonna get through this, I'm just not enjoying the trip a whole lot.;)
