So I ordered matchbooks for the wedding from The Wedding Channel. I've loved all their stuff and I was happy to order from them. I'ved used all their resources, including the website they let you set up. So I did my research and ordered the "periwinkle" matchbooks w/ navy font. They came in 2 days ago and are not REMOTELY the same color as the color indicated. I called them, assuming there must be a mistake. The first girl, Jenny, tells me to email her a picture of what I got and tells me that color can vary by monitor.....ummmm, I think I know that. So I email her the pic and never hear back. So I follow up. She tells me that what I got is what they consider Periwinkle. And I say "Okay....but this isn't what you have pictured" And then she blames the fact that I took it with a camera phone (why does that matter? I mean, it gets the point across)
Now I'm not such a freak that I need the exact match, but something close would have been nice. I ask to speak to a supervisor. I get her voicemail and leave a message giving her both my work and cell number....and don't hear back. So I called and ask to speak to her again and finally get her on the line.....to which she tells me I can order new matchbooks, they will give me 20% off and free expedited shipping. Which is great....but what color are they going to be? She keeps telling me the this is their periwinkle and periwinkle can vary by vendor and they reserve in their terms of service the right to substitute vendors. So, basically, what I keep trying to address, why isn't what you send what is pictured and I can't be the first person to bring this to her attention she makes the mistake of telling me that one person several years ago also had the same complaint.....Ummm.....so WHY DIDN'T YOU FIX IT?????
And that there is nothing more she can do for me. So I told her fine but "I'm going to contest this charge because your website is completely misleading and I'm going to warn future brides that you don't back your products"
I know its a stupid thing to concern myself with (this is what happens when you are so on top of things that you don't have anything left to do...lol) but its the principal behind the matter....you should back the products you sell and I should get what is pictured, not whatever you have on hand. And their poor excuse for customer service was even more infuriating! So I went ahead and contested the charge and AmEx already credited us (see, that would be customer service, more than I even expected!) and I'll get different ones....or maybe not even use matchbooks. So consider yourself warned!!
