Bad show disney!!!

I saw it, but I live in a rose colored world. :rotfl:

I have a confession to make here, as devastated as I am, I have to admit that after going to WDW pretty much yearly since 1983, I have never once set foot in Toontown. I know, I should be beaten, but instead I am devastated. I mean I never got to see it and now they are tearing it down. What if, it was just the bestest thing ever and now due to the thoughtlessness of Disney, I will never get the chance to do so. Oh, The Huge Manatee of it all. (great picture, btw).:sad2:

I never got to pee in Pete's garage. :sad1:I just may have to skip MK altogether this week lest my incontinence acts up. :scared1:

I don't know about you but I don't think I would be comfortable doing demolition work in the dark. If I'm tearing things down I want to be able to see as well as absolutely possible so I don't make a stupid mistake.

If I have to choose between a child being emotionally scarred and a worker being physically scarred, the child is going to have to deal.

If I am not mistaken it is agaist building code. Moreover, any job performed after regular business hours, mostly 8-5 requires a special "after hours" permit, obtained separately for any given day and there should be a good reason for such permit.

Who gives a dang about Pete's Garage or where the mice lived. But what about Donald's Boat? I can't bear the thought. Cereally, my great-nephew and I will miss the boat a lot, but I know we'd both love to see the wrecking/building in the area.

Sure it is sad to see Toon Town go. But like other things in the park. There is a time for change. If you do not keep things fresh it can get stale. Im for one all about change. Heck the idea of Wishes someday changing makes me sick. But I know it will happen.
Sometimes we just got to accept change.:grouphug:

Dear lord, how did you NOT catch the "huge" amount of sarcasm in my post.
In my defense, people have really been saying what you said but seriously. You should have put one of these---> ;)
Now that I get it, OK. :)

Good grief some of these posts made me feel like I should also run right in her room and tell her that Santa doesn't exist and there isn't really any Disney magic (which by the way- I believe in Disney Magic- we have had some great things happen there). Bumbershoot, a sincere thanks for your insight from your own personal experience, but while DD is kind of scary smart gifted (yes tenderdonkey I will be sure to let you know when she cures cancer- although you might be out of luck as her teachers have told us their prediction is either a star or the CEO of a major corporation) and can be overly dramatic, she is not a serious child...she is actually known as the class clown (she has been referred to as the kid most likely to wind up on a sitcom or funniest home videos)...and she loves Santa. :)

First, my mommy has always told me that I was the most special human being to ever live. All my teachers told me that I was simply the best at everything and just a magical person. So you may have not known but only angels are allowed to actually type my name. Quoting is ok, but I am just too special to have a mere mortal type my name.

Secondly, I really don’t care what you tell your kid. You just can’t expect other people to play along with whatever stories she/you created. If you or your kid rolls the die and engages me in a conversation it may end in a slideshow from my trip to Tijuana.

Lastly a word of caution, a few weeks ago Kasey Johnson told Stern how she was always scary smart growing up…

:thumbsup2 To everything you said.

1. I think that the DIS needs to change their tagline- this is definately FAR FROM the "friendliest" boards. Pretty snarky and catty and clique-ey.
2. My position hasn't changed. This is bad show! To the Defenders of Mediocrity, I quote Al Lutz:
It's well known the Disney company keeps an close eye online, and more than a few times the immediate and unsparingly honest feedback for their latest offerings has resulted in refinements, reworkings and even the rare shutdown of a show or ride. But the gushing DoM fan postings supporting a product that is of a lower quality than what Disney should offer get monitored too - and more than a few times they have been used to try to convince the higher-ups that customers don't care or notice.

The people who care about quality at Disney are very encouraged by the sea change in management at the company, from Iger on down. Unlike the latter of the two decades under Eisner, or the 10 years with Pressler there is a lot being done right nowadays. But there are still those DoM postings that get printed out by those more concerned about budgets or cutbacks that worry some of the folks spearheading the renaissance going on right now. Walt Disney World in particular suffers from the incredible amount of damage these DoMs can inflict - those little salvos praising the poorest quality shows or attractions can hold back those who want to improve the offerings out there.

How can those who care be helped? All they ask is that if you see a DoM posting making excuses for a botched product or service, that you take a few moments to respond to it. Take a minute to post how important the higher standards Disney is usually known for justify their premium pricing, and that the best quality product is important to you. It doesn't need in any way to be a putdown, it just needs to be honest about what can be done better.
The Disney Difference isn't going to come back until those that expect better become more vocal than those that are happy with "good enough". And in WDW, that hasn't happened yet. :sad2:

For all of those sad about Toontown being replaced, Goofy would like to welcome you to come visit him at the better Toontown out in Disneyland because once you go there you'll be glad the TT at WDW is gone:

well I for one think its awesome to be able to see the construction going on. We'll have to make special efforts to see it in May. My kids would love that!

We don't see Mickey in toontown, we see Mickey in HS. Why wait in an hour line when you can just walk up to him??? ;)

We also don't attach emotional significance to theme park rides and park areas. That doesn't seem terribly smart considering it's not yours to do with as you like and it's likely going to keep changing. :confused3

I enjoyed Toontown for what it was but my whole family is excited for the changes. Even DH who's been going to WDW for nearly 30yrs and has lots of memories in places that no longer exist.

If I had my way those would be clear walls. I'm sure it would be a major little boy attraction!

I think some people have unrealistic expectations when it comes to Disney World.:sad2:

Great idea...the girls have their "Princesses" and BBBprincess: and the boys have a construction site. My testosterone levels are rising just thinking about it.:woohoo:

Disney has ignored the boys long enough. Sure they have the Piratespirate: but girls are also involved in that. How many boys do you see at BBB? Huh? How many? Huh? That's what I thought...none. This ones for the boys!

Gee, ya think?

Oh my, I am pretty sure my whole vacation was ruined because I had to see construction at POFQ. It completely took the magic out of my trip. Imagine that....I had to look at trucks, supplies, gated walkways, open doors, partially completed rooms and construction workers.......oh, the horror!

It completely got in the way of all those cm's whose job it is to walk around and blow pixie dust all over any space that I walk in or look at.

I really think I should get a refund or better yet........a two week fully paid trip to a deluxe resort, dining plan, gigantic gift card and airfare from home. Only then will I be satisfied!!! No....wait!!! I would also prefer perfect weather, no lines for anything and that all bathrooms would be "eat off the floor" clean. I think that should cover everything.

Oh No'es, not everyone in a public forum agrees with me.

bunch of meanies!

On a side note, watching Charlie Sheen a heck of a lot today, do Crazy people know that what they are saying is crazy?

LOL

Charlie has crossed the line....hasn't he???

Yes and No.

I believe the frustration many feel, myself included, is that Disney World in particular has gone from a place that was as close to perfection that was realistically possible to a place that has sacrificed its high quality and standards in the name of profits.

Obviously in the case of the construction you can't hide every single thing from view however the frustration that many, once again, including myself are feeling is the lack of even trying to hide things. There is simply no mystery to anything they are doing.

It all comes back to the very standards that Disney set many years ago, the ones that separate them from their competition, its the Disney difference, this is whats been forgotten. It's why people pay more to visit Disney over any other theme park in the world.

Obviously some people have expectations that cant be met and are unrealistic however expecting the same quality that was once a company standard is not unrealistic in my opinion.

I don't get what the big deal is. It's not like they bulldozed the house with Mickey still in it. Tell your kids that he moved and they are tearing down the old house.

Problem solved.

Wow, just wow. I am amazed at what people get worked up over.

No kidding.:sad2:

If I knew my child was going to be devestated by an area of the park being under construction, I would make sure they didn't see the construction. Not take a train ride that goes right by that area.

I don't understand thinking that the park needs to be more responsible for your child and their feelings than you need to be.
