Bad packaging

I really hat packaging that doesn't let you use up everything. This is ESP CMOS in hair and skin products. If I pay for it I want to use every bit.

Hacksaws are your friend.:teeth:

Not that I would ever resort to such tactics.:rolleyes1 "Oh, no, not I," said the cheapska---er, frugal fly.;)

I agree. I hate those bottles that you can't unscrew the top off either. But I have a good pair of kitchen shears that I use to cut the bottle that my favorite Aveeno moisturizer comes in. Then I take a long spoon and scrape out every last bit and put in a small plastic bowl with a lid. There is always so much left in the bottle that won't pump out when it gets low.

I totally agree with you. I say they do it on purpose. The mayonnaise bottle one is my pet peeve, the squirt one. It leaves, I would say 15% at the end of the bottle. I now buy jars and carefully fill a bottle made for molding chocolate that is very pliable and I can get a lot out before resorting to spooning out again. My son is a mayo fanatic and the bottles are less messy than the jars for him.

Yes, I hate this too! Squeeze bottles/tubes and pumps, grrr! My Neutrogena facial cleanser tube in particular annoys me, especially since it is one of the aforementioned tubes that you can't unscrew. I squeeze for as long as I can to get as much as possible out of it but ultimately there is still some left. I don't know why I never thought of cutting the tube open, but I'll have to try that.

I can't believe I never thought of cutting off a lid seeing as I'm just a little cheap. I am standing in the showe swinging and smacking the bottle and trying to pull the lid off and then adding water. Annoying.

^^This^^^ Love the kitchen shears.

I complained to a company years ago, probably proctor and gamble, about not being able to use all of the underarm deodorant in a solid stick version. I was told that there is an extra amount of product used to anchor the usable product and that the anchor amount is meant to be wasted.
Maybe that's the idea behind most products? An amount intended to be wasted?

But I still try to get every last bit out of packaging as well. ::yes::

I'm with all of you, this annoys me. Way more than it should. But even if I decide it's not worth my time and effort and decide to toss the container unemptied, then I face recycling/trash guilt.... containers have to be clean before they go in recycling, and putting plastic into the trash can is a big no-no.

And to introduce another pet peeve: CLAMSHELL PACKAGING! Risking life and limb, not to get the last little bit of product, but to get the first little bit!
