It's our 4th trip this summer to DL. I really want to try Matterhorn this time around. I skip Space Mountain because of my neck. I'm ok on BTMRR. How is Matterhorn?

If it's serious, then I wouldn't recommend the Matterhorn. The ride is old and jerky (which ironically makes it more fun when we are healthy are whole), and BTMRR is much smoother.

I would pass on Matterhorn.
I do not have any neck or back issues and it is too jerky for me most days. I ride it occasionally, but not very often.

Just being honest.

I'm going to have to agree with the people above, every time i've been on the Matterhorn I've always am shocked at how jerky it is (no matter how many times I've been on it). Its definitely not worth ruining your whole trip over if you do injure your neck. jmo !

Like the others, I would not ride the Matterhorn with a bad neck. It's way too jerky. If you skip Space Mountain because of a bad neck, then you for sure should skip the Matterhorn.

If you do decide to try it, I would definitely go with the Fantasyland side vs. Tomorrowland. In my opinion, the Tomorrowland side is MUCH jerkier.

I would skip it. It is such a jerky ride. It tends to give me a little bit of dizziness, too.

Matterhorn is a lot jerkier than Space Mountain. I would recommend avoiding both sides of the ride if you have any type of sensitivities or injuries.

Ditto this. I went on Space Mountain four times during our last visit but could only do Matterhorn once, it was the most violently moving ride in DL, even compared to Indy in my opinion. My butt hurt pretty badly afterward also lol!

I have a bad back, in fact can not walk very far. I rode the matterhorn several years back and it actually put my back in place :scared1: for 2 years my back was perfect!!

You're the exception to the rule. A good exception, though. :rotfl:

I'm glad it worked out for you.

I have bad disc and other problems and would not ride the bobsleds if I had neck problems. When I got rammed at Autopia it took some exercises and laying down then I was better. I been riding the bobsleds for 48+ years and can tell you it is very jerky and that is why I like it. The jerking punctuates the ride and makes it more realistic.

Add me to the list of naysayers.

I know LOL! now I can not walk at all with out a scooter, Im hoping to get a bobsled fix again :lmao::lmao:

Matterhorn does jerk back and forth similar to a wooden coaster but is a fun ride. If you're going to avoid any of the coasters then this would be the one.

Space Mountain is rather smooth with no large drops. I would think if you can handle BTMRR then Space Mountain would be easy. California Screaming is very smooth in comparison. BTMRR can be bad for backs with its up and down jerks. To me its not a smooth coaster at all but doesn't have the side to side jerkiness that Matterhorn has.

I agree that the Matterhorn is jerky! If you have doubts, then skip it. But maybe ask your physician if a cervical collar worn while riding could help?

That's what I was thinking, about the cervical collar. But, I think in the end I will just skip it. I was hit by an 18 wheeler 15 years ago and my neck has never been the same. It really sucks, though, I used to love roller coasters. The bigger the better!!!

Thanks for all the responses!!

You know.....if I've had a migraine anytime in the past 1-2 days I avoid the Matterhorn. It's jerky enough that I feel like it might bring it back so I just skip it.

I so want to go to WDW. If I were to go there I know I would have to sit at the front of the safari ride. I know that I would have to skip Dinosaur and Rock n roller coaster. I want to ride Indy at DLR and Autopia also.

I also know I have a mother that needs me, a house to run, bills to pay, obligations, and my mobility. I want things but rather not risk being paralized or dead from a few minutes of fun. I could eat a large sundae but know that the payment for eating that much dairy would incapacitate me too long so I fight the urges to eat grilled cheese sandwiches and banana splits as it is not worth it.

I so feel sorry for you:hug::hug::hug: and wish I could condone your riding but do have doubts. Talk to you doctor and it also depends on the type of damage you have. I have lower back from weight and fatigue while mid back is the disc and upper back is from stress and fatigue.
