Bad Meal at Earl of Sandwich

Hi all--We were just down in Disney for a short trip. Stopped by Earl of Sandwich and we were very disappointed in our sandwiches. The bread was the same great stuff, but the sandwiches had less meat and the bacon was NOT the same great stuff. It was just gross!! We just ate there in May and all was great! Did we just hit a bad day or have things changed????

I would like to know this, too. We were planning to eat there during our October trip. Have been there before and had enjoyed the food.

I hope it was just a bad day. DH has his heart set on that being our first meal at WDW. This has always been a highlight for him on past trips, and it would be a real bummer if it isn't what it used to be.

I wonder if rather than raising prices they are just decreasing amounts of meat and quality? Their sandwiches are so much less than what you would expect and the prices haven't seem to have gone up in years?

Hope it was just a bad day. They have been consistently good through the years, even when others have cut back.

we've been recently and it's the same old Earl

however, we sometimes go to their other location in Tampa and the taste/quality is just a little different (they use less sauce and the bread is a little less toasted.)

I think it really depends on who makes the sandwiches - perhaps the person who made the OP's sandwiches was just more stingy or they were going too fast.

I will say that when DH and I ate there one evening in June, they had the only rude employee we encountered on Disney property during our entire week-long trip. The place was crowded and the line was long and a female employee (don't know if they are considered CM's or just employees of the Earl of Sandwich chain) kept running up to the waiting line making shoving motions and yelling at everyone to move up. She wouldn't stop until everyone was touching the person in front of them. Everyone wanted to get their food ASAP and was doing a good job of keeping the line going without her making us all uncomfortable. We heard others around us making remarks about it too.

Wow, I hope it hasn't gone down hill. We've never had a bad lunch there. I'll be there in 3 weeks, so I'll be sure to post on here after we eat at EOS.

OT, but I didn't realize there was an EOS at International Plaza. I've been curious to try it, but we don't usually eat CS at WDW. I'll have to go to IP to give it a try. Thanks for the heads-up.

My family and I are planning on going to the Earl of Sandwich next Wednesday and 1 or 2 more times after that, so I can then let you know how our meal was.

Our meal there in mid-June was good, as usual. Sorry your meal wasn't good, and I sure hope it was just an off day. We have always found good food there, and probably the best value of any of the QSDP places we've tried. If I was paying out-of-pocket, we'd probably eat there even more often.

We ate there on Sunday. Sandwiches, chips and strawberry shortcake were good as remembered. People working the register were pushy as always. Only downside, it was so hot inside with no air moving that walking outside into the 100 degree sun felt cool. They need fans or something in there.

My Mom and I at at the EOS last May. My Mom's sandwich, the All American, was great but mine, the Original 1762 without the horseradish, was HORRIBLE! The bread was of course wonderful but the roast beef was stringy and fatty. I was really disappointed. I have eaten at EOS several times over the last 5 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope it was a one time thing and not a trend!
