Bad info from CM? Dis'ers help me decide.....

I have a 5 night myw with dining package in October. If I get ten day no expiration date, park hopper tickets, am I allowed to upgrade them to annual passes within the first 14 days? (i.e. AFTER checkout on the MYW plan?) The cast member I spoke with yesterday said NO, because I am on a package. Has anyone else gotten different information, or done the same thing that I want to do?

I sort of asked the same question to a CM and got a different response. I was told I could upgrade any MYW ticket during my vacation week to an AP. The free dining is attached to the room, not the tickets. It also doesn't matter that they are non-expiring tickets, I am getting 7 day hopper expiring and was told I can upgrade before they expire. Just don't get the plus features because then you can only upgrade to a premium AP.

I agree with nutsforgolf. If nothing else, it would be crazy for WDW to disuade you from returning, but refusing to let you upgrade your pass. One reason they allow upgrades is so that people will say, "Wow! This place is so great, I want to get an annual pass so that I can come back again!" Good luck!

Just a warning. I have heard of some package tickets NOT being upgradable. I think it all depends on the package.

Also, I think you will only get credit for the UNUSED days on your ticket. At least that has been my experience when upgrading tickets.

but I did read somewhere that as long as you upgrade within 14 days of first use, you get the full value applied, not just the unused portion. Anyone else have more info?

I asked this question and the CM put me on hold to find out for sure. When she came back she said that I could upgrade my MYW ticket to an AP anytime within 14 days of the first use. She specifically said it would not affect my MYW + free dining package.

I also think it would be bad business for Disney if they didn't allow people to upgrade package tickets. They want you to come back and you will be more likely to come back if you upgrade to an AP.
