Just wanted to pass the word that my dh recently paid for and downloaded TaxCut and when he tried to open the program it CRASHED our computer..... the only thing LEFT on it was Tax Cut. After getting our system going again curiousity got the better of him and HE TRIED IT AGAIN  Guess what.... CRASH and BURN! Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Scary! I have not installed my Tax Cut yet. Has anyone else have this problem? What operating system do you use, Mermaid?
And when you said that your computer crashed, do you mean that you had to reload all of your programs and that you lost everything that you did not have saved on floppy, zip, or compact discs?

Thanks for the "heads up."

Just another person here who wants more details. After reading the thread about TurboTax, I was going to return my TurboTax (which luckily I haven't installed yet) and buy TaxCut. What's going on?

Sounds scary, Mermaid. And a lot of work. Hope it gets resolved for you guys.

Sounds like this needs a bump. I was just going to recommend it to my daughter. Anyone else try it yet?

I have used Tax Cut for 4-5 years. I downloaded this years version from the internet and have had no problems.
I have started using it already.

Sounds like you may be overloading your system??
I use windows XP (upgrade version)

Good Luck !!
Kim

Thanks Nurse-Kim! :)

Has anyone else had any problems with Tax Cut? Our tax information is starting to roll in and I would like to get started. But don't want to put this getting-to-be ancient computer at risk. :(

Holy cow, I hope this doesn't happen to us!!

I recommended Tax Cut to my DH because "someone" here recommended it.

We've used Turbo Tax in the past, and after reading WM Alex's thread, decided against it.

We still run Windows ME.

I did a quick search on the Web for any known problems with tax cut that would cause this, and I wasn't able to come up with anything that explained it. Sometimes a program can interfere with other programs on your computer and they just don't work and play well together, any experienced tech has seen that lots of times.

I mean EVERYTHING was gone... I'm not much of a computer person but dh had to use the "system recovery disk" if that tells you anything. He said to tell ya'll it was the download from H&R Block..... he called them and they are putting our $$ back on our card..... no questions asked..... just had to fill out a "letter of destruction" that they emailed us.
