Bad experience with Budget car rental in Kissimmee?

I'm trying to be proactive and avoid having a BAD EXPERIENCE returning my Budget rental car to the Kissimmee location on North John Young Parkway.

The Budget website lists this location as having pick up service with a 24 hour notice. I called the location directly and asked if drop off service is also available. The man who answered the phone seemed a bit confused by this request. He finally understood that I needed a ride to the Kissimmee train station, less than two miles away, after dropping off the car.

What has been your experience with this Budget location?

Did you successfully use their drop off service?

I don't have any specific experience at this location but be sure to allow a lot of extra time. It's not like a complimentary shuttle from an airport to an offiste rental agency or hotel. You may have to wait if the employee who does transportation is picking up a customer or is otherwise unavailable. You should drop off the luggage and all but the driver at the train station before returning your car.

Lewis...I am planning on dropping off the luggage and my friend at the train station and then returning the rental car. I do the same when renting at the airport, it's just easier on everyone.

It seems to me that drop off service is more of a "if we can do it we will" kind of thing. I will be prepared to taxi back to the train station. I feel drop off/pick up service is more of a marketing gimmick.

Anyone with drop off experience with Budget?

Some one out there must have dropped off a Budget rental car in Kissimmee!

Why? Relatively few DIS members take the train. Probably an infinitesimal number took a train, rented a car at that budget location and took advantage of their drop off service. You could try searching.

The issue is if the employee that would drop you off is unavailable and Budget wants you to wait longer then the time you have available. You have the right solution. Have the phone number for Mears so you can call a taxi if necessary.

I'm responding as a "bump". Maybe you'll get lucky and get a response.

I remember a few posters asking what car service picks up at the train station. I recall at least one asking about taxis. I don't recall any posters asking about renting a car. I suspect many train people, who want a car in Orlando, take the auto train.

I'm not sure how much help one or two posts will be. I don't think I'd make my plans based on the good, or bad, experiences posted by a couple of customers.

I'd try to assess how helpful the employees are when you get there. Maybe ask if the person who picked you up at the train station will be on duty the day/time you return your car. Maybe give a slightly higher tip. You'll be OK as long as you allow enough time for a taxi.
