Bad DCL experience... Do I need a new hobby?

I think she has it wrong, she was actually on the YENSID Cruise line and has dyslexia.

I'm sorry you got such a rotten letter, but everyone's replies and poking fun at it's author has sure made my lunch hour fun today!

Luv-
Michelle

PS - I've adored my two DCL cruises and I am frantically trying to make goal on WW so I earn my next one!! And part of the success of my previous cruises is because of information from castawayclub.com!!!

well.. Beth, the people here always have great advice, having availed themselves of all the wonderful services DCL has to offer. Maybe a new section in the Passporter is in order?? I'm sure there will be some very good reccomendations.

:p :p :p :p :p :p

Dave, Please keep up the good work.

As far as that letter goes.....I'm just glad I'm not her.;)

Orgies-that explains why the cm's are always smiling. I often wondered how DCL kept them so upbeat!!

Is there a special pin I'll get if I get to participate in one of these? I'll probably have to ask for it though-LOL. Do you have to repeat this activity in order to get one like you do in order to get the DCL towel and pin?

Dave:

There are a lot of people on these boards that have take numerous DCL cruises including yourself and I have never read anything like this.

My family and I have been on 4 cruises and never experienced anything like this.

In my opinion this is far fetched.

We love your hobby don't give it up!

Lyn:D

oh definately, a special pin is in order. and maybe a new name for thiis exclusive club too.... something like " the mile high club"...

Let's brain storm some names... anyone have ideas? :p

Hmmm-- Seven Seas Adventurer Club ?

Or better yet...does anybody remember the Patrick Dempsey movie from the '80s in which "lonely housewives" would call and order a pizza with a special topping (it was something strange like extra anchovies and garlic). The pizza place would send over "Loverboy" (which I think was the title of the movie) to give the wife a little attention. Maybe we could have the "Room Service Club" where you order a "special" MENu item.

:D

Oooh, I can't wait to see that menu posted on Dave's Barb and Tony's sites!

Beth

gdulaney, I love that movie!!

so funny! I love it at the end when "Tony" is chasing the Kate Jackson character on the scooter, screaming, "I love you! I would die for your love!!"

i haven't seen that move in such a long time!

Yes, it was extra anchovies. :p :p :p :p

that poster needs to get a life...

DAve, your'e great, we are cruisin real soon, I planned my vacation based on your website and recommendations.

My family and I are set to go on out first Disney Magic cruise (May, 8 to 15, 2004) on the Disney Magic. I am really looking forward to it, but hey, maybe I should look at another cruise line. NOT. This post is a farse. I do not think this person would be satisfied if she were given the trip for free. What I really think is that this is a made up story by a very confused person who has a personal axe to grind.

Well, after having surfed your sight for a couple of weeks and finding it extremely helpful I thought I would throw my two cents in. Thank you for all the information and entertaining stories. Keep up the great work.

The waitstaff said all Americans are fat slobs to an American
Well on our last cruise the wait staff actually called one of our tablemates the OLD lady at the end. We all heard her and could not believe it. Maybe she just overheard it.

I remember Barb posting some pictures of the CM cabins!I can't imagine more then two people brushing their TEETH in a space that small, let alone the activities posted in the letter

There are alot of CM's from different cultures on board. What may be offensive to us may not be offensive to them so they more than likely aren't trying to be rude.

I have a good friend here who is from England. I said something about something (I know - I can't remember the word I used!) and she looked at me like I had said the most awful thing! Apparently what I said means a woman's behind in England!

First of all, Dave, thank you so much for sharing. I cannot tell you the last time that I literally laughed right out loud......several times. I had tears in my eyes. I definitely needed a little pick-me-up over lunch and this did it..................plus all the follow-on posts.

I truly don't find her pathetic tale of woe all that far-fetched. Very, very funny but definitely not far-fetched!! I just think it is really sad that this poor woman had to take it all so seriously and couldn't laugh at herself and the situation.................especially, the "alleged" comments by her servers. It isn't always easy to learn a new language but what I am dying to know is what the conversation was the precipitated the server to share that all Americans are fat slobs and the "inside skinny" on what the staff do in their "free time." I just don't see these topics being shot out there from nowhere as you are dropping the appetizers.

I am a bit confused over everyone's surprise that she wrote Dave. I know that the first thing I do when I return from vacation is to get on GOOGLE or METACRAWLER and find the personal web-site of a nice person like Dave and BLAST them!! That is always high on my list even before the laundry, dry cleaning and bill paying.

Between Dave's "intense traveler" and the flip side of life with Verandah man and Nate, I simply couldn't decide to laugh or to cry over my Chicken Salad sandwich. Now, where do I write to complain about that dilemma!!

I'm just dying with laughter on this one. I thought of a pin too, but you would need to definitely pick it up at another time.

Is this why I've seen threads asking about servers on the ships? Has there been code already in place for these activities? On the adult beach would konk koolers become bonk koolers?( sorry if thats going too far)

Unfortunately almost everytime I stay at Disney I see someone complaining about something that to me is trivial, maybe not to them or they are just trying to get something for free. Last night at the grocery store one of my items came up too much they tried to give it to me free. I said I wanted to pay for it, just at the correct price. Anymore that's all I ask for a decent product at a fair price for what you get and don't sweat the small stuff.

My biggest laughof the letter was that for Dave it's his hobby. What you do looks like work to me.

Oh and for disney6, I 'm guessing you used the term fanny (or fannie) and for them it's a little more anterior then the behind.

I'll be looking for anchovies on room service:p :p :p

You're right!! I said something about taking my fanny pack instead of my purse! (you're also right about the "location"!) The look on her face was priceless!!!! I'm chuckling now thinking about it!!!

Out of 8 DCL cruises I can honestly say that we never had a trip like that woman's....even if those things did happen to her, it could be very frustrating but I would not blame Disney for everything..... and let it get me down.
