Bad DCL experience... Do I need a new hobby?

Hummm.... How did she manage to "race around the airport" in a wheelchair??? If her knees were bothering her so bad, wouldn't her husband do the running around? All I can say is... um um um:o :(

Unfortunately, people like this are not the norm.

I'm a travel agent and I've had to deal with these types(perfectionists) several times while booking cruises and packages. If everything doesn't go smoothly on their trip, I hear about it when they return. They then bend my ear and want to blame me for whatever may have occurred. I've even been blamed for the weather being bad at their destination.

It's clients like this that can make a vacation miserable for others around them also. Can you imagine being seated with this person on a dining rotation and listening to constant complaints about food, service etc.. Fortunately, they are few and far between.

By the way, keep up the good work on this board. It's very informative and for the most part very congenial. Lot's of good information for new and old cruisers alike. I've seen other cruise line boards that had too many people just waiting to flame others. Hopefully, this one will stay clear of nonsense such as that.
 
Dave, take it from your fellow crazies: Don't give up the ship!!!!!
I know from experience with my own website that the people who have a great time and got lots of important info. from your website far outweigh the ones like the woman who sent you that email. For whatever reason, she felt the need to vent to you. I get a few like that, but they are far outweighed by the people who had a great time.
Besides, you don't twist anyone's arm to take a Disney cruise. You're just providing valuable information for people who choose to do so. Hubby and I view our site as a hobby, and we have as much fun with it as we do with any of our other hobbies. No one can tell you that you should stop doing something you enjoy, especially when you are helping others.
And I have a selfish reason for saying all this...I'm always referring people to your noisy stateroom list and your Port Canaveral information, so you HAVE to keep your site going!

So when did they get out of dinner? I have visions of the entire wait staff hanging around till midnight while they finished dinner.

As for the orgies, if you think of this it really is insulting to those folks who work seven days a week, one day off a month to support families far away.

American's are fat slobs, hum. . . . just the words I'd say to someone who I am hoping will tip me generoursly at the end of the week.;)

Please keep your hobby. This woman is a professional something but I expect it's not a travel expert.

Oh, it was a full moon and ..... hmmm, not that's not it. Guess we can just blame it on PMS and you took the brunt!! Why didn't she just post to our forum?? oh, yeah, she's probably afraid of being flamed... it's a little late for that!!

I still don't get the mold on the strawberries and they wouldn't take it off her bill...isn't the food, even with mold, included in the price of the cruise??

I could believe this if about 1/3 of the things she mentioned had really happened. Everyone has off days and everyone's perceptions are different. I really find it impossible to believe that ALL of these things happened to her on this cruise. Maybe she believes they did, but there are thousands and thousands of other folks who have sailed DCL who would beg to differ. ;)

I hope you didn't let this get you down...I think you need to keep your hobby. ;)

It is 'fortunate' that I(we) don't have to listen to this type of person everyday.

I enjoy hearing wonderful reports from my clients when they return from a cruise. From all the Disney cruises I have booked, perhaps 1% have complained about some aspect of the cruise. That's out of 200 or so Disney cruise bookings. Not a bad record, huh? This person was WAY off.
 
If she wanted fruit why didn't she just stop by Scoops???????? There always seemed to be a big tray of fruit there and it was announced in the Navigator.????????????????????????
 
Oh joanb, I'm CERTAIN she never got her navigators..I'll bet they forgot hers every day. And why would she stop by Scoops? I'll bet they were closed or out of food whenever she went by. ON a side note, my husband is a General Manager at a local barbeque restaurant here in the great state of Texas, and they have what a previous poster called "professional complainers" or something close. WELL, that is SO true. He has certain people who frequently come in and complain about this or that, and they'll want ALL their money back for EVERYONE in the party. Or, someone will call and say "they forgot this or that in the drive thru.. I want my money back." He says OK, bring me your receipt. WELL, imagine his surprise when they can't produce one, and they still want their money back??? You'd be surprised how many LOSERS are out there who do their hardest to complain for a FREEBIE. We have to wonder, if the SAME folks keep complaining, WHY do they come back? He actually told a woman who worked at the mall close by, who frequented his place for lunch, (she was a frequent complainer..) he told her to NOT ever come back. Well, she stayed away for several months. She came back a few weeks ago and COMPLAINED again and asked for a DISCOUNT!! OH, why are people so CHEAP? If they're so desperate for money, they ought not be spending it, and TAKE their lunch to work!! OK, I'm done now..

You definately need a new hobby. How is "giving people who really want to go on DCL a free trip" for ya? I'll volunteer to test this out, you pay for my cruise and I'll go and write a trip report.

I really enjoyed reading that trip report. It sure does look like she is setting DCL up to ask for a big fat refund since she is going to write a letter about her poor experience on the ship. Maybe she is going to say in her letter "and I copied this letter to Dave in Marietta, who has a website devoted to your cruise. If you don't give me your money back he will post it and you will lose customers by the thousands!"

Oh well, i guess it takes all kinds. Maybe she was just peeved that she wasn't invited to the orgy?

Well your letter sure did beat the one I got about me taking 'handouts" and who's pockets was I in ----let me tell you sweetie - anyone that takes the time as you, Barb and others to try and make a trip/cruise easier for them deserves a crown in Heaven - I believe in your "hobby" and what a loss if "you should find another hobby" -- keep with it ---as for BD's, this was a blast of a laugh - he always makes a bad situation into a laugh and makes a situation lighter.
I do not believe the writer of the letter -- appears she must have been on another planet ----or maybe in orbit -------or just maybe a cronic complainer who spent too much money and now wants something back in return for her "lousy" cruise ----don't take the time to answer such garbage - not worth your time.
I haven't cruise yet, BUT someday Norm and I will and believe me - you and Barb will be my angels in disguise.

Oh shucks Dave. You must feel harassed.

I swear that is a prankster thinking they are being funny or just trying to be insulting thinking its great. But, maybe I'm pessimistic about people that seem to make no attempt to create an atmosphere for enjoying their own vacation. When I'm on vacation I sure as heck am not going to let those things stop me from having fun. And, I have found the people on DCL to be extremely responsive you have the slightest bit of problem on the cruise.

Keep up the great work Dave!
