Backwards part on EE

Please let me know if the backwards part on Expedition Everest made you sick. If it did, were you sick for the rest of the day? A few hours? I'd like to know before I ride this for the first time. Any tips to not feel "woozy"?
Thanks! :listen:

I get motion sick easily (car, small boats, cruise ships, planes). :sad2: Most regular coasters don't bother me (I guess because they don't last long), but I've never been on one that goes backwards yet. So I'm planning on taking a Bonine in the morning before I go to AK, that way I'll be ready. Bonine always helps on the cruises I've been on, so I'm guessing it will help at WDW as well. In fact, I'll probably take one every morning, just so I don't waste time by not feeling well.

I'm planning on giving my mom (she's 65) a bonine before riding...she's nervous about it. She keeps telling me she has high blood pressure (she doesn't), she has back problems (she doesn't)...I told her if she got pregnant, she would have an excuse...I'm holding out for a baby brother! :thumbsup2

I rode it twice in a row and felt fine. But the only ride I've ever felt any lasting after effects on was Mission:Space, and that was slight dizziness for about an hour.

My wife usually feels dizzy for awhile after riding roller coasters, and she felt no worse after riding EE.

I was sick to my stomach, sweating, and felt horrible. I had to get DH to find me a Coke, and none of the stands were open yet. He had to go back to the front, and finally found a stand with cokes, but they weren't open yet. He told them I was sick, and they sold him one right away.

Took me about an hour. My kids loved it though, they rode and rode.

Now, I get motion sick, but I had taken dramamine. Did no good that morning. I can ride everything else with dramamine (MS only once)

Again, thanks for all of your responses. I have another question though: Does "Bonnie" make you sleepy? If not, is this in the drug store with Dramamine? Please let me know. The later knocks me out!

I get motion sickness really easily also, but not from going up and down, just from going round and round. The end of EE goes around a couple of times - that's what got me, but it only lasted long enough for me to walk to the end of the queue after I got off and stand for maybe a minute or so. MS (which broke down 45 seconds into my ride - THANK GOD) - totally different story - sick for 2 1/2 hours with a CM finding me somewhere to lie down in a cool, dark place. Of course, RNR also does me in - for longer than EE did - with the upside down thingy at the beginning :sad2: !

I love roller coasters, would have loved doing MS. Remember the first time I knew I couldn't do round n' round - merry go round on the playground, then again at 9 or 10 when grandpa had to carry me home from carnival after riding the swings!!!

So, I think it really depends on your tolerances.

What do Peppermints help with?
Dizziness? Nausea?

thanks!

Its actually "Bonine" and yes, its with the Dramamine. Bonine does not make me sleepy, just kind of mellows me. The new non-drowsy Dramamine contains the same ingredient as Bonine which is meclizine. The latter can be bought as a generic. I will be trying out the Bonine on EE later this month - wish me luck!

I felt a bit woozy after getting off but was fine by the time I walked out of the gift shop. I'm a big scardy cat though and I think I worked myself up to much before the ride. I think I made myself feel woozy. I think I would be fine if I could calm down.

Heck I do this at almost every semi-intense ride. Test Track is my favorite ride ever and I've ridden it a billion times but I still get jittery right before getting in that car. I'm crazy, LOL!

I felt fine the first time I rode it (about 10 AM) but when we rode it again around noon my head hurt when we got off. Not like there was an axe in my skull or anything, just a headache. It went away in about 15 minutes.

DS rode it 3 times and felt fine. :confused3

I think the sensation differs depending on where you are on the train.

i guess ill find out what it does to me in 28 days!!!!!!!!

I'm going to AK on the morning of Sat. Sept. 9th. and I will have to ride by myself :guilty:
So let me know when you and your GF are going, so maybe I can get in line with you, while biting my nails . . .

The backwards part was the only part of the ride that I didn't like. It gave me an intense headache that lasted several hours. I think (for me anyway) it was the speed of that backward motion, combined with the little "drop/twist" at the end, combined with going forward again rather quickly.
Sadly, I doubt I'll ever ride Everest again--too bad, as the other ride parts were fine. No problem with the drop, etc.
