Please let me know if the backwards part on Expedition Everest made you sick. If it did, were you sick for the rest of the day? A few hours? I'd like to know before I ride this for the first time. Any tips to not feel "woozy"?
Thanks! :listen:

hi
i wasn't sick but felt very woozy when i got off the ride, dh said he felt weird too. he recovered in about 10mins - i gave up waiting and took an anti sickness/giddiness tablet i always carry with me and felt fine in about30 mins. certainly would not do it again, other people have said it is tamer than the three mountains at m.k,!

The first time I rode it I did feel a little woozy after the backwards part, but recovered completely and rode again 3 times!! I was surprised how long the backwards part was - twice as long as the Mummy. It is a great ride, don't let that small part put you off!! Suck a mint!!

you will be responsible for half the guests choking, better specify a polo mint :)

sorry
i thought polo mints were world wide lol ,they are round mints the size of a cent with a hole in the middle. sort of very mini doughnut shaped. we must start an usa - english / english - usa picture dictionary :) !

Lol, even though I suggest sucking mints, I went through 3 or more on Mission Space and still felt so bad when I got off. Will not be going on that again, but EE is brilliant! :teeth:

I felt very woozy after EE. I was fine until the backwards part but that did me in. It was a couple of hours before I really felt better.

We didn't have any problems with going backwards on the ride. We got off and felt just like we did when we got on.

Wow! Thanks everyone for your responses! I think I will eat a Ginger Altoid before I get on. I heard that ginger helps with dizzyness. So maybe that'll help. I just don't want to go through what I did on Mission Space. I was out of it for over an hour . . .

That's the shape of "Life Savers" roll candy in the USA.

http://www.oldtimecandy.com/life-savers.htm

The first flavor they offered (and still do) is Pep-O-Mint.

The 'backwards' part of EE is the only part of the ride that gets to me. But, in May I rode it 14 times, in rapid succesion, in 90 minutes, and I had no ill effects. But, I have to tell ya, even on the 14th time, it still got to me...that pulling backwards just flipped my poor little tummy!!

And I will say that the "backwards part" doesn't affect me in any negative way.

Its just another "thrill" in a great thrill ride.

People who ARE affected by these kind of things, usually assume that EVERYONE MUST feel "long-term" affects from any kind of coaster or other thriller.

But there are millions of folks who just "enjoy" the brief feeling (the "rush") and then have no post reaction (other than maybe wanting to "go again!")

I fall somewhere in the middle:

I can still "feel" the high-octane version of Mission:Space for 10 to 20 minutes after I exit.

But on EE, not ONCE do I ever get a "coaster feeling" during or after the ride (even during the "hair-pin" drop that's visible outside the mountain).
The backwards section's "secret" is how the angle and speed change the "gravity" of your body, but its just FUN for me... with no ill "feeings".

EE is the smoothest coaster I've been on.

"Intense" is a bit tougher to define.

If you are frightened in Snow White's Scary Adventures that will seem "intense".

If you are frightened at the film sitting in a movie theater, THAT also is considered "intense".

So, if the thought of riding backwards in the dark concerns you, then I suppose that will seem "intense".

But speaking of only the PHYSICAL MOTION of the ride, it is amazingly smooth and quiet compared to virtually any other coaster (including BTM, EE's closest "cousin" IMHO).

Its been my experience that "tensing up" during sections of rides that are unknown can affect me more than the physical forces of the ride itself.

I'll take some packs of polos with me and offer them to anyone who needs them in the line ;)

The backwards part did make me feel woozy. It did not take that long to recover from it, but I did not choose to ride again. EE will be a ride that I ride once per trip, like Rockin' Rollercoaster, not a ride like Soarin' that I will ride multiple times per trip.

How long (how many seconds) is the backwards part? I've tried to count on the videos online, but they're rather choppy and it's hard to tell. I can survive anything as long as I know how long it's going to take... :rotfl:

Between 10.3 seconds and 16.8 seconds, depending on when you start counting or if you lose consciousness.

I agree that the backwards part provides a very unique feeling and I really enjoyed the rush. DH and I had no ill effects from it. One morning during our May 2006 trip we rode 4 times in a row with very little wait in between. After the fourth time we both decided that was enough for a while. And let me tell you, a while is up. I can't wait for our October trip to get here. :rotfl:

Thanks for having the better information. For me, who got "woozy", all I could say was "Too long". I felt kind of spinny sick for about 2 1/2 hours. Yes, I guess I'm a total wimp. Someone said to be sure you don't lean your head on the headrest because that emphasizes any bumps. I'm not gonna chance it again.
