just a question about the backstage/keys to the kingdom tour.

I know that you go into one of the underground tunnels.

I am reading about peoples experiences on the hiddenmickey.org website of this.

Quote from someone December 1995:

' I always hated when they would bring a group of guests into the tunnels because they would always bring them by the Dressing rooms and the "ZOO." And there, for all to see, is Cinderella in her bloomers smoking a cigerette on her break and about 30 Mickey heads on a rack. Parts of heads and bodies all over the place. It really spoils the magic.'

do they still allow this? - i thought that disney wouldn't want to spoil the magic.
I wanted want to do this tour but i feel that it would ruin it for me if i saw the character costumes all over the place or someone in 'half' a costume while they were undressing.

We've done both key's and backstage magic. At keys you only go to MK and go into the tunnels, on this one we saw no naked Cindy's or headless Mice, just neat tunnels, with trash services, and such. At backstage you see stuff at MGM, Epcot, and MK, and this includes, wardrobe, in all forms, so we saw the costumes hanging and they explained how they were designed, sewn, padded, makeup, wigs, etc... I didn't feel that this took away from the magic at all, I found it very interesting. But if your afraid that it will deminish that for you I would suggest you skip that tour.

thanks for you reply.

is backstage a very tiring day as you go to three of the parks?

thinking about it maybe it wouldn't ruin it for me.

which tour would you recommend?

thanks,

I'm with Melmel on this one.

On New Year's Eve, Epcot was so crowded that they set up an alternate pathway behind Mexico and under Test Track to get people more efficiently from World Showcase to Future World. We actually saw buildings that were not themed! And signs for CMs! But it did nothing to destroy the magic.

I've been back stage many times and it never ruins the magic for me. I love to see what's 'really' going on, which only ADDS to the magic.

We have seen characters in less than their full 'self', but certainly nothing like what your quotes describe.

DH and I did backstage magic on our honeymoon in 11/04. Both of us agree: it was the best day we EVER spent in WDW- PERIOD. We loved it! We were tired at the end of the day- I believe the tour lasted about 8 hours. We were always kept busy- there was always something interesting going on or being told to us. A really nice airconditioned bus took us from place to place- there were sodas and waters that we could help ourselves to. We also took a break for lunch at Mama Melroses- which was excellent. Our guide was very informative (Jim)- and I don't feel like seeing any of the "behind the scenes" stuff ruined the magic for me at all. DH and I have Key to the Kingdom booked for this march- we would have like to do Backstage magic again but didn't have the extra $300 to spend. Keep in mind that Backstage magic is $200 per person, whereas KTTK is only $50 per person. If you book either with a Disney Visa you do get a discount (I believe it's 10%). Hope this helps- feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Since they used the bus for most of day it wasn't tiring at all. The only real walking we did was near the end in the MK b/c the bus can't get in there as well. If you think you'll like it DEFFINALY do it, it's well worth the time and the money.

I actually did see Snow White in her bloomers having her lunch..
Also I saw a "headless" dwarf having a cigarette!
