Are you allowed to take backpacks on rides at the Disney World parks and at Universal studios? There will be only two of us going there, so we won't have anyone to hold our bags if they don't allow them.

Last time I took a backpack into the parks was July 2001 and I carried it on all the rides no problem. I can't imagine it would be a probkem as long as you can secure the bag while on the ride. I'm not sure how it's done at Universal as I have never been.

We haven't been to WDW for almost 20 years but we were at DL 2 summers ago. We carried the backpack everywhere without a problem. Just make sure to secure the bag between your legs when on the coaster type rides. I made sure that the backpack strap was around at least one of my legs to keep it secure.

I've carried my backpack on all the rides. The only time I am nervous is on RNRC. I just make sure it as attached to my leg somehow! It's bben on MS & TOT, too.

The only ride I can recall not allowing a backpack was The Hulk coaster at Universal IOA. They had small lockers located on the left hand side of the ride entrance.

No problem at all Disney parks. Sorry, I don't know about Universal.

No matter what park I go to, I always just put backpack between my legs & the straps around one leg (above the knee - just in case my feet fly off the floor) and then enjoy the ride. :smooth:

Universal is a little more restrictive, but there are free lockers near the rides that don't allow a backpack. I don't know how big the lockers are, though. Most will allow a fanny pack, except for the new Mummy coaster. Why a person can't bring a fanny pack on that ride since it's a lot tamer than Dueling Dragons or Hulk, I have no idea, but there are free lockers.

Try posting in the Universal section of the boards for more detailed info about there.

Always bring mine - never have a problem

Have heard Universal does restrict carryons on certain rides, but provide free lockers in that event. Havent been yet, but read it on the Univeral board. Post over there for confirmation on that =)

Like as been stated: Universal won't let you take them on Dueling Dragons of the Hulk. Men in Black might be a problem too. Disney is fine with them-just hang on to them on rides like Thundermountain. NOt much room tho in SPace mountain etc. But I have even taken fgift bags on those rides. I sit on them.

What is the mummy coaster at Universal? I was just there in January and have never heard of it.

The lockers at Universal ARE big enough for backpacks - we carried the small LLBean sized one around last year...and it fit into the locker fine.

I do remember using these lockers for Men In Black...but not Spiderman.

The new Mummy ride sound AWESOME - you gotta pop over to the universal boards and read up on it!

The only ride I have ever had a problem on with a backpack was Mission Space. My bag was pretty big and it was a tight fit going into the carpartment for bags. There is a little compartment that shuts for bags and whatever loose items you have and they have to go into that space, so just make sure your backpack is not too large because they don't allow you to keep it buy your legs since it might float up and hit you I guess.

Otherwise no problem on other rides.

I had the same problem. I needed to store my backpack and the video camera. Lucky for me my son's backpack was pretty empty so I was able to use his area.

I would have had a problem if I'd used the single rider line.

Mummy is a new inside dark coaster (not just a coaster, though) in the space where Kong used to be. It's a lot of fun and fills the medium coaster niche nicely. It's based on the Mummy movies. It's a lot of fun, and I hadn't even seen the movies so I mised some of the theming. It was in soft opening when I was there and opens for good sometime in May. There is a 48" height restriction and does not go upside down.
