I have a backpack for my DD7 and her friend (we are taking him with us - he is 7 also)that Mickey is "delivering" on our door step (and one on his) the morning that we head to the airport. In it, I have:

wallet, Disney $$'s, fanny pack, sunglasses, fan, batteries, disposable camera, kid poncho, glow stix, glow necklaces, watch, crayons, color book, goggles, autograph book, pen, hand sanitizer,

I am sure there is more, but I am drawing a blank....shocking, I know!!! hahahhaha :rotfl2:

What am I forgetting!?!?

It will be delivered in a big Mickey Mouse gift bag on the front porch with a letter (in Mickey Fonts, of course) telling her to have a great trip, have fun on the flight and that he is looking forward to seeing her again! Friends will say the same except that he is excited to MEET him (first trip). I can't wait to see her face when she finds it! Can't wait to hear him talk about his, either....he is so excited! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I just saw your post............ I replied to your answer on mine...... LOL

I love that idea!!! I'm going to "TRY" and arrange it to where the CM at the check in desk gives DS's basket to him. I hope I can work that out!! I'm sure your little one and her friend will LOVE it!!!

I got my DS a Pal Mickey from Ebay, brand new for around $30.00(shipped) and a Sorcerer light up hat......... for about $9.00 shipped!!!! I'm looking at some Mickey gloves/hands, but they seem pricey on there, I'm not sure where I could buy them from beforehand. I'm also wanting to add an epcot passport book and a Guest of Honor badge. I too am trying to get more ideas.......... good luck!!! I'll keep watching both threads to see what ideas we get!!!

How about some Disney themed playing cards. Perhaps they can play some games on the plane and in the hotel. Either a regular set with Disney characters, or maybe Uno or something. I know my local Target always has a decent range.

Birnbaum who do the Official Guide Book do a kids one too which is really pretty good for kids to have a look and plan what they want to do. It's written for them, it's not a 'with kids' guide rather a 'for kids' guide. It is a little pricey $12.95, perhaps you can either find it discounted somewhere (any help on that?) or buy one for them to share.

You might also want to add the GOH badges or some pins and a lanyard. I got those for my cousins on their first trip. Mickey delivered those as well. I ordered them (a little pricey) from laughingplace.com.
Disney cd's are great too for the plane ride.

I did something similar on our first trip. I had Disney fruit snacks and any type of Disney snack food I could find. The Disney deck of cards was a big hit for the plane and at night while the kids waited for Mommy to get ready for dinner (LOL). I included some small Disney books for reading on the plane as well The Disney stores have cute little items you can pick from. Even Disney lollipops. Enjoy your trip. Let us know how it goes.

That is a really neat idea. I think maybe I'll get a Pal Mickey for my dd and have it for her the morning we leave. Actually, I'll put it in bed with her right before I have to wake her to go to the airport with a note from Mickey.

Look under the stickies on the Families board for stuff to print out for them to keep busy on the plane. There's things to color, word games, trivia... some neat stuff!

That's right! I remember reading your posts a while back about your family treating the little boy down the street. It is a great thing you are doing! I hope you all have a wonderful time! :wizard:

The Hidden Mickey's book might be fun! They can study where to look for them at your resort if you are staying on property. :earsboy: :earsgirl:
Make sure their pens are the thick ones so that the characters can easily grip them.
They will probably need sunscreen to re-apply during the day. We don't want a sunburn to ruin your trip!
Have a great time! :sunny:

Some special snacks - fruit snacks, crackers, pretzels....anything you allow your child to eat and you know the friend can eat. Car/Plane trips get long and that will be something cool that they can share - maybe even a couple of juice boxes.

DS is four and he loves to find special snacks/juice boxes in this backpack/bag as we leave on a trip. He's allowed juice boxes at home - but not that often - so it's a special treat for him. Plus - he gets to carry them vs. me having them in my bag (I know - bad mother!).

We're leaving in 7 days (taking a side trip on the way) and I'm looking at doing the same type of special bag for him to keep him entertained on two plane rides before we get there officially. Am headed to the Disney Store in the morning to do some pre-trip purchases without him!! Can't wait!

a disposable camera.
SAw this already on your list....GREAT idea!! My kids absolutely LOVE having their own camera.

I would put some snacks in their bag (they don't necessarily have to be Disney themed!) and a bottle of water. Then on the plane they don't have to bother you when they are hungry! You can always add the water before you go so that it is cold.

I just finished getting all the stuff for my kids bags....do it every trip. I make up a binder with all kinds of puzzles and coloring pages. I also found a bunch of "workbooks" at the Dollar Store. They were even Disney themed! My kids like to do them. The Dollar Store even had those huge swirly lollipops, with the Disney gang on the cellophane, for $1! I know they are WAY more than that at the parks. "Tink"might leave those on their pillows after our first day at the parks! I also made them a Journal for their trip using all the downloads from www.themouseforless.com . My kids are 6 and 9--close to your son's age.

Have a great trip! I know they will LOVE their backpacks. My kids just get them from me, but look forward to them every trip. Imagine how special they'll be delivered by ::MickeyMo himself! I also get my kids a new pair of PJ's each trip. Just something new and fun to wear when we get there.

Have a WONDERFUL trip!!!! Kathy :earsgirl:

Get the "tubes" that have the little M&M's in them. Eat all the M&M's :earboy2: Then fill the tube back up with pennies and quarters (2 quarters/penny....repeat). The boys will have change ready for all those pressed penny machines. Kids always think they are great....and cheap souvenirs! But of course, you'll have to buy the pressed penny book to keep all those pennies in one place! :teeth: Kathy

Aww...I think what you did was a great idea! My mom did something sorta similar for me when I was a lot younger...for my birthday, she booked a trip to Disney, and gave me a stationary set (mickey and the gang, of course) and matching pen. When I took a look at the first piece of stationary, though, I was surprised to already find writing on it...My mom made up a little poem telling me where she was taking me for my birthday!!! Even though I was only about 7 or 8 at the time, I was already hooked on Disney...What can I say, lol :goodvibes

Hahahha - I didn't want to hijack your post!! I had been meaning to ask about the backpack and your post reminded me - without a reminder, I can't remember to do ANYTHING these days!!!

We already have a PAL Mickey that she still sleeps with from the first year they came out. Her and her friend will just take turns with that if we carry it around the park.

ReggieB - We have the kids guide, bought those for them when we first decided to take the little neighbor boy with us. I am not sure if he has even read it :bitelip: - his mom keeps telling him "it's just like Dollywood" :rolleyes1 You will have to go back and read my initial post about this trip to understand what I am up against... :earseek: ...it started out "have I lost my mind?" ....

Thanks gang! I added lots of snacks! I think they bags are pretty full and now I just have to wait EIGHT more days to see their faces!

I just love these ideas! What is good for a 4 year old. I already plan on making her a coloring book with print-outs. I'd like to get a pal Mickey, but they are so expensive. I might try Ebay! This is her first trip and it's for her B-day!

I know!!! I forget everything too..........LOL!!!

I sometimes feel like I plan way to early, but, I can't help myself!!! I just think that if I plan and do things early, it all works out better!! Like the Pal Mickey............ I cannot believe I was able to get him brand new for so little........... I'm glad I started looking for him so soon. DH and I are going to the Disney store tomorrow.......... hopefully I can find some other things!!!

ONLY 8 more days................... :Pinkbounc
I bet you can't even sit still............... LOL :earboy2:
