Does anyone have any information on background check companies or work for one? I do have the actual name of the company as well.

DH is in the last stages of a new job, he just needs to get through the background check. We just don't know how that works and are nervous. The only thing that he is worried about is a job back in 2002-2004. He left for three months in the summer of 2003 and then went back. He didn't show that gap on his resume for a couple of reasons. 1. he didn't want to show the two jobs he tried in the meantime. 2. Neither of those two companies exsist anymore. 3. The company he was with from 2002-2004 doesn't exsist anymore and the parent company that bought them only has records back to 2007.

He is concerned because on the paperwork for the background check it says they will use his SS# to verify previous employement. Is there a system out there that I don't know about that keeps track of that stuff? :confused3 The only thing I can think of is if they pull W-2's from those years and see the different companies names ... we have "reasons" to explain that if they question it.

You know now nervous you get when these things are going on ... there really isn't anything else out there that could prevent the job but he's worried about this one little thing!

FYI - A buddy of his just got hired with this company about 6 weeks ago and all his previous companies have also been absorbed into other companies with now information regarding employees who were gone before the absorbtion. The background check companies just asked for W-2's from those years to confirm he was employed there.

Not sure what company we use however, we do a soft pull for crimes/bankrupcy/judgements. If nothing shows up, it is clear. If something shows up, a hard pull is then done. I will mention that we do it in every county you have ever lived in (which is where the SS# comes into play, taxes paid).

I wouldn't sweat it....good luck.
