A "Star" Studded Morning & The Disney Soda Fountain Shop
Well once again, we got up, ate a quick breakfast and headed to do our "Daily Oscar Check." I was so excited to see that the red carpet was now out!
This was also a new change...
While I was happy about the quick progress that was being made, I was really hoping to see the large, gold, Oscar statues before leaving Hollywood. That wasn't looking too promising since we were leaving later tonight...
Sadness aside, I quickly put on a happy face because Chris took my picture in front of the red carpet!!!
Look...they added more signs!
With our "Oscar check" aside, Chris and I had an exciting morning planned! Before leaving our hotel this morning, the staff informed us that Jennifer Aniston was getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the ceremony was taking place at the intersection of Hollywood and Vine at the W Hotel. Ummm......what? Remember that I'm just a "little bit" of a Friends' fan and I was just a "little" excited about getting to sit on the "couch?" Well, this about put me over the edge!!! Since the W wasn't too far from the Magic Castle, we decided to head over there to see what we could see!
It was fun to see some of the big sites along the way. Here is the Capitol Record's building...
And here is the famous Pantages Theater...
Before long, we made it to the W and found a decent spot next to 3 paparazzi. This was our view...
The paps assured us that we had a fantastic spot as long as none of the TV cameras set up right in front of us. Here are some of the crews with all of their equipment...
Well, unfortunately, that very thing happened, but we decided to stay put with the increasing crowds.
It was interesting talking with the paps. We were asking them lots of questions about their jobs and they told us that even though they are "vilified" in the media, they get a lot of their information from the celebrities themselves or their PR people. Some celebrities are even on the payroll of the agency that the paps work for and are required to tell them where they go. Interesting, huh? After speaking with these nice men, I guess I don't have as much empathy for the stars anymore since they seem to have a hand in their own destiny.
Before the show began, Jennifer's father, John Aniston, found his seat.
Soon, excitement started to fill the crowd as Jennifer and some of her celebrity friends made their way to the stage. The screams were getting louder and the photographers' flashes were going crazy.
Jen finally made it up on the stage, along with two of her costars from her new movie, Wanderlust.
Jen's costars, Kathryn Hahn and Malin Akerman, both made speeches. Although I admire them both as actors, I didn't think their speeches were all that fantastic.
During the speeches, a tour bus passed by the W and a woman yelled out, "I love you, Jen!" Jen didn't miss a beat. She smiled, yelled out, "I love you, too!", and went right back to listening to the ceremony.
Up next, was Jen's friend, Adam...as in Adam Sandler! Chris and I were so happy...we just love him!!!
As in typical Adam fashion, his speech was over-the-top and so hilarious. He had everyone in stitches!
I love that he doesn't let the whole "Hollywood thing" go to his head.......everyone is all dressed up and he shows up in a T-shirt! He just wants to stay true to himself and I applaud him for that!
Finally, Jen was presented with a couple of awards and they declared it Jennifer Aniston day in Hollywood!
