The Company that I work for is sending me back to georgia in one week, so I just wanted to know if there were things that I should try to see while I'm there........Thanks in advance for your input...

You beat me to it Robin! :) I think between the two of us, we can handle info on each end of the state.

Georgia...how beautiful from what I've seen of it! :)

Yep, Ann, you take the South, I'll take the North! Now all we need are representatives from the East and West! :teeth:

I'm Sorry.......I knew I would forget something.....

I'll be flying into Atlanta, Georgia next Sunday and will be there for a week. Looks like my evenings are all free, so I figured that I should take advantage of this and do a little bit of site seeing.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

hmm i would think one of the main things to see in atlanta would be robin:)

The Fox Theatre is a beautiful facility and would be a nice place to spend the evening. The show "Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will be in Atlanta next week. Here's a link to the Fox.

Stone Mountain is a nice place to visit. They have a neat laser show. Here is the schedule if you are going to be in Atlanta through the weekend.

Dont' know if you enjoy baseball, but the Braves have some games in town next week. Turner Field is a great place to see a ballgame.

I agree that Stone Mountain is well worth seeing while you're there. It's very nice.

There is a small, historic town on the southern end (I think) of Atlanta that was interesting. It's been several years so I'm fuzzy on the details but maybe someone can tell me what I'm talking about. ;)

Since the Marta transportation system is right by my hotel do you
think i'll need a car? If not, i'll just use the transportation system.

I do plan on going to a game at Turner Field while I'm there.

I'll be in Atlanta from 8/ 22 - 8/27.

Thanks so much for the information.

If your hotel is near Marta you can take Marta from the airport for sure. You can also take it to a Braves game and should be able to go downtown to Centennial Park. Marta also goes to Lenox Square Mall where there are some nice restaurants to eat at. You can go to the World of Coca-Cola, which is interesting and definitely try to see someothing at the Fox Theatre.

If you are wanting to venture out to Stone Mountain, you will need a car.

MLK Center is worth a visit- it is a pretty good monument to his struggle for civil rights.

The High Museum of Art is in Midtown, not too far from The Fox Theatre- if you are into museums, it is very nice.

Do they still give tours of the CNN Center? That would be interesting.

And the Braves are really fun to see, especially at Turner Field.

Hop on MARTA and go to the station nearest GA Tech (12th or 14th street?) and go to the Varsity for a chili dog and an F.O.
(that's a Frosted Orange down here).

WHADAYA HAVE, WHADAYA HAVE, WHADAYA HAVE???

Mmmmmm, Varsity! I forgot about the Varsity. F.O.'s are the best- you have to have an order of onion rings, too.

Fellini's pizza on Peachtree St. is also yummy. If you are into funky little hole-in-the-wall places, there is a great burrito place on Ponce De Leon called Tortillas- they have the best guacamole I've ever had.::yes:: ::yes::
