I actually brought a large suitcase into the park one time which theoretically should be above the size limit. However, this was before the security was "beefed up" and I was also a cast member at the time (which may or may not have affected their decision to let me in with it).

It's not that exciting I was checking into a hotel that evening and had to enter the park from the guest entrance that day before a shift, so I ended up having a suitcase. Luckily I was able to leave it in my break room before trying to go on rides! haha

Darn. I was envisioning you opening up your suitcase laying out a blanket, maybe some candle sticks, a whole chicken dinner complete with sides, and having a grand picnic.
I think if you tried to bring in a big hiking back pack with a metal frame like you were forging your way along the Adirondack trail, they might not allow THAT, but if you mean a regular backpack like what most college kids carry their books in...yes, those are allowed for sure.
