Back Home from the Fort

People act like it's some kind of mad house and people are ramming golf carts into people and jumping over bridges and slamming into campers.

The majority of people don't abuse the carts, stop acting like the MINORITY is the status quo. Until it becomes a REAL problem, nothing is going to change. If it actually was as horrific and world ending as some people believe, they would have done something by now.

It's funny that there has never been one single substantiated rumour (not even just a rumour) about them ever taking away the rental golf carts. In fact, they just expanded the fleet, so it's obvious they have no plans on getting rid of them. Enforce the rules a bit more? Yea, they should and hopefully will do it. But please, golf carts aren't going anywhere, they are a huge money maker for the Fort no matter how much people want to hate on them. Unfortunately for the people that hate them, they also never rent them, so they really aren't affecting Disney's bottom line on the carts anyways.

I for one am glad that the carts aren't going anywhere. I hope they're there until even my grandkids will be able to rent them (when they are all solar powered...lol). And people will probably still complain about them then, but such is life :)

The Fort - We stayed in loop 700 (our favorite loop). It was full, but not packed. Everyone seemed to be behaving themselves (at least in our loop), no obnoxious neighbors, no all night music. One issue that has gotten out of hand is the golf carts - they're everywhere and some drivers are quite reckless!!!

The only other problem is that some pet owners do not pick up after their pets. Nothing is quite as aggravating as walking your dog and stepping in another dog's poop.:scared: I am always amazed at people who think the rules are in place for others to follow, but not them. :confused3

Rumor?

You obviously didn't understand what I wrote. I said that Disney has never said ANYTHING about removing the golf carts, not that people don't like the golf carts.

You are pasting what someone else said, that has nothing to do with what I said about Disney. Disney has never said they would remove the golf carts, there has never even been a substantiated rumour (or even non-substantiated that I can think of) that they would remove them, and since they just upped the size of the fleet, they obviously aren't planning on doing it either.

Hopefully that clears it up for you :)

My stubborn DH is a living example of them enforcing the rules. The two times that our lights went out on the cart, he decided to drive it anyway with huge flashlights strapped on there to compensate. He was stopped by security and escorted back to our site both times. They do patrol, and I have seen them kick many a small child out of the driver's seat. People only see what they want to see. I agree, they are not going to take the carts away. If it is bothering "everyone" so bad, please call Disney and file a complaint. That way, something will come of it. They will beef up patrols, or do whatever they need to keep safety in mind. The last thing they want is another lawsuit. If all you do on this forum is complain and not voice yourself to the people that can do something about it, nothing gets done except to alienate others.

OK, I am off my soapbox. My DS (3yrs) is an avid fan of the carts and would not let us go to FW without it. :earsboy:

Oh, to be clear, no stress on my part. I just kinda feel sorry for some folks...

I do walk on the right side as is custom in this country but the carts coming head-on down the center lane are the ones I'm tired (not worried) of.

:yay:

As I said, I do hope that they enforce the rules. I am with all of you that the rules should be more strictly enforced. I don't agree with teenagers that are not of age driving around in carts. However, I also think that calling for the ban of all carts based on the few that break the rules is a bit much. There is one thing to complain, and another to complain on an internet forum. Everyone has the right to their opinion. My point is/was that if this was a serious problem, Disney would have taken measures a long time ago. I have yet to ever really see a problem with the carts, but that is my observation, and not others.

I've been going to the Fort for longer than I can remember. I don't and will not argue that some people view a problem with the carts. If someone does not like the carts being there, that is their right and their opinion. I am just stating that in this amount of time I have thoroughly enjoyed the carts and never had a problem.

To each their own :)

Bama,

Glad to hear that as it really is not worth stresing over the few who have no consideration for others, and they are few. Usually, it is the teenagers when they all get together on one cart and have to show off to each other. Those are generally the ones you have to look out for. At least in my experience. But as a whole, I do not see that many problems with the carts. :thumbsup2

Havent we beat Florida teachers thread up enough :thumbsup2

PS... I was thinking about starting another smoking thread ...:lmao:

You could really go crazy and start a smoking while driving a golf cart thread :P

Know what irks me? Those underage smoking golf cart drivers drinking a free coke from TE in a refillable mug from All Stars.

smoking while driving your cart to the site that you rented just for magic hours to spite someone else would be better

you beat me to it, i was going to say mug refillers, but that doesn't get people as fired up as much.

I am going to start the

Anti:
teenage golf cart driving
reckless driving
smoking
drinking on a golf cart
Prevost owning
mug refilling
line jumping
Invited guests parking at the sites
non waving
foreigners
non site using EMH folks
non poop scoopers

Thread.

yeah.... kinda goes contrary to the whole "waving b/c campers are generally friendly/happy people"..... thread...

We're friendly, unless you're one of the above... :lmao: (or, we THINK you're one of the above!)

(and you forgot, non-pooper scooper pet owners!)
