Back from Wonderland:wAlice,Madhatter,ChesCat&White Rabbit 11/11Thank You

We were then off to NY the next morning-left at 9...had to get to a Family Jazz Concert by Lincoln Center by 1...grabbed some yummy French like bakery food at Bouchon Bakery in the Timer Warner Building first and then went to concert...afterwords ran over to FAO Schwartz (because "It is one of David's favorite places ever..."-his quote
Next morning we went to the MOMA...where amongst many other interesting things we saw these in the sculpture garden...

100_1236.jpg

Yes I still look exhausted...but you can see through the window to the tright of me...the Paris Metro sign...I thought it was Kismet to use when I start my PTR...as was this...

100_1244.jpg

Eric thought this sculpture looked like a hidden Mickey who'd been on a bender...:confused3...I kind of see it...

23 teens?

No wonder you were exhausted. Cloudy must have been a nice escape!

VERY much Mickey on a bender, my kids would have spotted that right away even if I didn't.

Ahhh. PARIS!

I used to have a couple of MA dolls and I still wonder what in the world happened to them. Including an Alice! Oh I loved that doll.

there was a time when my brain just would never even have gone there...but now...I spot Hidden Mickey's in the most unlikely of places...:confused3

I can relate.

Wrapping up this trip to Wonderland...

YES the AKL Trifecta of Food...then

Tusker House Breakfast-for the fun of the characters in safari gear

Yak and Yeti-because I had low expectations...and we had a lot of fun here (very Indiana Jones inside) and the food was tasty

Best Attractions/Experiences

Jedi Academy-how often does your son get to fight Darth Vader and win?

Out of your 6 fav's only one was NOT at AK or AKL! Love it.

Honestly, I think your Rabbit Jedi moment, and captured so beautifully on film, is one of my favorite Disney moments ever. And its not even mine! It's a magical memory and I'm honored you shared it with us.

I have loved your TR and can't wait to come along with you on your PTR journey!

Patricia,

thanks for just a wonderful journey w/ your family during this Disney trip....can't wait for Paris and more

 J~

So much to catch up - even though you alredy finished your TR!

I would love to be able to go on day trips to NYC! :lovestruc Family Jazz sounds intriguing! I really like Jazz music but don't understand anything about it, so I find it really difficult to find out what I want to listen to. Family Jazz sounds just like something for me I imagine, jazz for beginners. :goodvibes And MOMA and Guggenheim sound wonderful! I did not manage to see them when we were there - as much as I love art, there were so many things so truly unique to New York which I had to see first. I can see great art here in Berlin, too. Even if it is different pieces of art.

I am glad you enjoyed my German holidays essay! :thumbsup2 I absolutely see your point about Halloween and I think our carneval has a similar function: it was about banishing the dark spirits of winter.

You are right about German toys, and by the way, especially Nuremberg is a center of toy industry. Nuremberg has the world largest toy trade fair, held every year in February. It sounds like the most wonderful event, but it really just is a professional trade show and it is not open to the general public. I went once with a ticket from work and was a bit dissapointed. But it was huge and extremely busy. When it is held, all hotel rooms in Nuremberg and the towns around are booked well in advance. There are even private people renting out their spare rooms!

I think you should buy the Eyre Affair. :goodvibes

I can't believe you are already done with your TR, just from reading your final comments, one can tell that you had a great trip. I think small drama is always part of life, especially if you are travelling. So this really shouldn't make the trip less worthy. And the camera drama ended actually very positive: you know that there are honest people around! :goodvibes

I already posted on your PTR, it's great to know that most likely, we will read from you for the largest part of 2010, especially if you decide to do a TR for the 2010 trip as well! :goodvibes

Girl...you have been a busy Mama....

and I love it that no matter where you are something reminds you of Disney :goodvibes

Busy, busy, busy...:cool1:

I know...I am now seeing hidden mickeys everywhere...not just in WDW...hmmm...I'm not sure that that's actually healthy...:rolleyes1

Great memories! Anxiously awaiting the link to your PTR!

Thanks...:goodvibes

It DOES look like a Hidden Mickey on a bender! It DOES....It REALLY DOES! :rotfl2:

Oh....poor Mickey....he looks so....so .....so....hungover!

I love you last update. I can't believe your TR is over, but I am very happy that you are starting a PTR. And you DO NOT look exhausted in your NY pictures, but you are not smiling. I can only say this because I am the great nonsmiler!

I think I still have to catch up on a couple of your later installments, so I'm going back to see what I missed!

it looks like a Mickey after a night on the town to us...but what about the general population...? ;)

I hate being told to smile in a photo...the photos of me smiling are usually taken off guard...:confused3

Lovely wrap up! People often ask me why I go back to Disney year after year. They've never been, or they went once as a young child and only have fleeting memories of crowds, lines and heat. Each vacation was different and special in its own way. Thank you for sharing yours! :goodvibes

Many people find it comforting to go to the same beach every summer or the same lake or mountains...Disney is just as comforting to some of us... familiar and comforting but always something new and different as well...:)

Awww, that was a really lovely wrap up!!

...right back at you...

You had such a lovely trip -- thanks for sharing it with us, and you know I will be around for the PTR! :goodvibes

Thanks Jackie...

Very nice comments on your trip! Watching and waiting for the new link....

Anita-why thank you...for giving me another opportunity to shamelessly plug my new PTR...link in siggie...:lmao:

What a great ending to your report!

Thanks...

Awww, I don't want it to end! You guys had such a great trip and you wrote such an amazing TR!!

I'll definitely be stopping by your new PTR...

Thank you for reading and writing your own as well...

23 teens?

No wonder you were exhausted. Cloudy must have been a nice escape!

You better believe it sister...23 teens...nice, nice kids but still...Cloudy was fun...I needed a Coke though to get some caffeine...(no coffee at the theatre...) I never drink soda but I needed to remain awake

VERY much Mickey on a bender, my kids would have spotted that right away even if I didn't.

...poor Hatter...I've had a negative influence on him...;)

Ahhh. PARIS!

I used to have a couple of MA dolls and I still wonder what in the world happened to them. Including an Alice! Oh I loved that doll.

Awww...your dolls...I'm having a Toy Story 2 Jessie moment...:sad1:

I can relate.

Out of your 6 fav's only one was NOT at AK or AKL! Love it.

I know-I realized that too after I made the list...funny next year we probably won't even go near AK or AKL since it's going to be a short trip...:confused3

Honestly, I think your Rabbit Jedi moment, and captured so beautifully on film, is one of my favorite Disney moments ever. And its not even mine! It's a magical memory and I'm honored you shared it with us.

Thanks...me too...

I have loved your TR and can't wait to come along with you on your PTR journey!

Right back at you sister...

The family jazz concert was fab-it was elementary but not condescending or babyish...there were a decent amt. of people without kids...;) and it was hosted by Wynton Marsalis-who has to be one of the most enthusiastic personable musicians ever...

I'm sure you do have great art in Berlin...;) I've heard that there is culture in Germany...;)

...David is now interested in the Bauhaus movement...he loves the clean lines...and geometry...I'm sure he could find some great examples if he came to Germany;)...:lmao:he is a real character...

That is shame about the toy fair...I would think it would be wonderful...I think it is nicer to have fewer really good toys than a lot of not so nice ones...:confused3

I think you should buy the Eyre Affair. :goodvibes

Actually...it's sitting in my B&N cart right now while I decide what to buy with it to make the $25 purchase to get free shipping...:lmao:

We really did have a great trip and I'm used to a little drama...;) It was really heartening to have our camera returned and so quickly...

Yes I think you'll be seeing...I mean reading me through 2010...:goodvibes

Thank You...:goodvibes

All journeys must come to an end. This telling of this particular journey has come to its end.

Thank all of you for being such great readers and companions during the retelling of this journey.

I have been greatly aided by all of your knowledge and with the generous and gracious way you share it. Many days these boards and the comaraderie here made all the difference between a difficult day ending on an upbeat note.

I have enjoyed the opportunity to getting to know you through your writings in your own trip reports and your often kind, helpful and humorous responses to mine...

I think it is a pretty amazing thing that I will often myself thinking during the day about something I think one of you would think was interesting or funny or of a great book or movie you might like or how someone's family member might be doing...when less than 6 months ago...I didn't know any of you.

Now I can't imagine not knowing you (even if it's mostly in cyberspace...;)) because knowing you and being able to share with you has made my life richer. So much fun all started because of a mouse...:goodvibes

Thank you all...:grouphug:

Not actually going anywhere...(just moving a bit...) See you all on your TRs/PTRs and my new PTR...:lmao:
