A little background we are a family of 6. DH, myself, DS 17, DS 14, DD 2, and DD 6 months. When I booked, I was concerned about the size of our party fitting in this room, which we legally did. We are DVC members and generally spend most of our vacations in 2 bedroom villas. Last year we stayed at the BC on concierge level and the room felt like a closet. We don't like to spend more than 1 weekends worth of points per trip and we enjoy visiting old favorites so we always stay at a different resort the first weekend. We had not stayed at the Poly since 1999. We checked into the Poly at 0730 on May 31st for 3 nights in a GV room. We were shocked when we found out our room was ready. WOOHOO!!! Off we go to Tokeleu (?). The view was not great but we had drove all night and didn't care. The room was quite spacious, we all loved the new decor. Such an improvement over the previous. The pool area is fabulous, still a little bummed they didn't add hot tubs but oh well. We all enjoyed this resort, so much so we have decided to make it a tradition. We will always start or end our vacations at the Poly. We really enjoyed Ohanas, Kona not as much as previous visits, Capt Cooks was okay. I must admit if I stayed there for longer I would tire of it quickly but its nice that they have a counter service option. All in all great stay!!!!

Now onto the BCV's. We prechecked at 0530 for 10 nights in a 2 bedroom. Yes, you read that right. I couldn't sleep so I hopped in the suburban and prechecked while the family slept. Didn't help, room was ready at 3:45. The positives, great location, the resort and the room. We had a great view of Illuminations every night and I could hear the music. Seriously, with the back path we left our rooma nd would be at the International gateway in < 6 minutes and we had a double stroller and a 2 yr old that wanted to walk. The pool area is just wonderful, love the sand area for little ones and I love that you can ride down the slide in the kiddie pool with your toddler.

Things that bothered our group enough that we probably will not stay there again for some time. Nice but clueless frontdesk staff. DVC has been there long enough that they should be familiar with the system. We had issues with the housekeepng schedule, we have been in DVC for 8 years I know how it works alot of their employees don't. I will add the housekeeping supervisor was wonderful. What burned my cookies was when I called the front desk to inquire about our full cleaning I was told it should ahve been done the previous day, I explained it had not and was told and I quote "theres nothing I can do about it now". Wrong answer. Wrong attitude and tone I might add. I had to make 2 trips to the front desk regarding other issues that should have been taken care of at checkin. I inquired at checkin if I had a balance, I had given my dc info long before arrival and assumed they would charge me. But I checked when I checked in if there was a balance, no I was told. Well yes there was so I found out the next day. Back to the front desk. taken care of. Next day another call and so on. I finally called my bank to verify what I had paid for and got a front desk manager and finished up, 3 trips to the front deskand 2 hours of my time later.

We ate at the resort rarely. We used the Grill at the pool once, it is what you expect. I am sad to say Beaches and Cream has gone done is quality, it will be an ice cream stop only for our group in the future. A note on that as of several months ago you can no longer order the Mudslides or No Way Jose from the takeout window. You have to dine inside for those.

To me so much of my enjoyment is service and I felt this place needs some improvement. We probably won't be back for some time if at all.

I am glad you like the Poly. I will be taking dh, ds10, ds7, and dd5, as well as parents in Oct. to stay at the Poly for the first time. I requested Tokelau gv. Did you find it was central to everything with an easy walk? Thank you for any additional info. :)

We really like the location. I am one that doesn't find the Poly to be overly large and any rom would have alot of positives. If you are at the opposite end of the resort you are a quick walk to the TTC for an easy commute to Epcot which is great. There are pros to every building there.

Snowwitch, Thanks for that most excellent and to the point review!

We booked the Poly for our family of 6, DH, myself, DS15, DD12, DS4 and DD2

and had been concerned about if we would feel cramped. We also are used to suites when we travel but really wanted a duluxe and monorail this trip. I originally had BC booked for SAB but kept coming back to convenience of Poly, I love reading I may have made a good decision! Also requested Toukelou GV. . .here's hoping!

Hi! I was happy to read your trip report as we are headed to the BCV and then the Poly for 3 nights. DH and I have not stayed at the Poly in well over 10 years and DS(14) has never stayed so we are excited about that stay. Glad you enjoyed it there. I agree a hot tub would be nice at a deluxe hotel like that.

As for the BCV, I am sorry you did not have a great visit there. DH and DS just LOVE the BCV and SAB. I love the pool, but I too have found service there so so in our last visits (summers 05 and 06). Can I ask you, were both hot tubs running well while you were there? There seems to be a problem with one or both when we have visited in the past.

Thanks for sharing your trip. Sorry your visit to the BCV was not great this time. You must be exhausted from a "vacation" with four children of those varied ages.;) No, seriously, I hope you had some down time and were able to relax. You and dh deserve it!! :)

I'm glad to hear you liked the Poly there too. We'll be heading there at the end of this month for our anniversary trip. We had akl but got called to switch and after MUCH research we decided on Poly.
