Hi All!

We returned late Friday night from a five-night stay at OKW. We had a wonderful time!

We arrived at OKW at around noon on Sunday. Check-in was busy, but soon I was all checked in, and though our room wasn't ready, was told we would be in building 37. We went out for lunch and to the Studios for a bit, then got some groceries and headed back to our room. When we got in, it was apparent immediately that someone had been smoking in there. Not good! So my husband went to the front desk. They were completely booked, but managed to find a unit in building 42, but it was handicapped accessible. I was concerned after reading reports of lots of water on the floor from the roll-in showers, but we really had no choice. The smoke smell was so strong my eyes were watering after five minutes!

I shouldn't have worried at all about the HA unit. It was perfectly fine, and since I had my parents with me being on the first floor was nice. We had no problems with water in the bathroom. The unit was very clean and well-maintained. The only thing that needed attention was the front doors are looking pretty beat and could use a coat of paint. Building 42 was a great location, very close to the pool and a short walk to the bus.

Bus transportation was fantastic! We couldn't have asked for better. The longest wait we had was 10 minutes, but most of the time it was less than five. We really love the laid-back feeling of the resort, and my parents couldn't believe how big the unit was! (We were in a 2 BR.)

The parks were a bit crowded, but not terrible. We had a great time at MNSSHP. The weather was picture perfect. We had a few raindrops on Sunday, but the rest of the week was gorgeous. I can't wait to start planning the next trip!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the report! Glad everything worked out great for you. We are staying at OKW in February, we can't wait :yay:

We were in building 36 from Oct 8-13! It was our first visit to OKW, and we will be back. It was lovely. Very relaxing. Everyone was very nice, and got several "welcome homes!"

We were in a 2br and they are huge. It was nice to have so much space.

I didn't find the parks too crowded, just Saturday. In fact, my boys went on Space Mtn a total of 5 times through the week (no Fastpasses either)...the only real line we waited in was at Kilimanjaro Safaris at AK, that was a 70 minute wait! I have never waited that long for anything at WDW, but we didn't hit the safari until we were leaving (the boys were far too fascinated with riding Everest over & over!!!)

We were in Building 39 from Oct. 7-13! It was also our first stay and would like to return. Our 2 bedroom was very spacious and the resort as a whole was very nice :thumbsup2 .

I'm glad it worked out for you.

I would like to know that they charged whomever was responsible for the smoke what they say they will charge for smoking in a room. We spent a night at a Comfort Suites, and I think their charge is $250. You had to agree not to smoke before you got the room.

I'd like to know, too. I'm not sure if there's a policy about that or not, but there should be. It wasn't a big deal to move, but the resort was booked and we were lucky to get another unit. The front desk people were very nice about it. We could have moved on Monday to a non-HA room, but we just wanted to get settled and stay put. We ended up being very happy with our location.:goodvibes

I totally agree. I was impressed when in Canada recently we had to sign at each hotel on our tour not to smoke in the rooms or there would be a penalty. Back over the border in WA we checked into a Holiday Inn Express where someone was clearly smoking in one of the rooms nearby in the non-smoking Holiday Inn - but no penalty clause there!

Glad to hear the handicapped room was not an issue for the OP either :thumbsup2
