First, thanks for all the pixie dust for good weather last week--we had great weather! The forecast had shown scattered and isolated thunderstorms for most of the week, but the only rain we had was the first evening. It was a soothing thunderstorm.

This was our first trip to HHI for more than an "overnight"--we stayed 5 nights this time. We love VB, and I must admit that at first I wished I was there instead! The pools seemed small to me (in comparison to the main pool at OKW and the VB pool.) The beach had LOTS more people on it than VB's usually does, and I wondered whether I would like being so far from the beach (again, in comparison to the proximity at VB.) I actually grew to love NOT being right on the ocean! It almost seemed like 2 separate vacations--beach and "wilderness". I kept saying to my DH, "Now THIS is my idea of camping!" ;) By Friday, I was in absolute love and have already booked our next HH trip!

I had read so much about the great cast members before we left, and I have to agree with those posts! They were the best! We enjoyed a few of the programs (Secrets of the Marsh, Pirates of the Calibogue, Teen program: Gotcha!, learning to juggle (Catch Me If You Can...), Unbirthday Party) and next time will try one of the Longview Cooking Club programs with Chef Gordon. I've heard so much about him that I felt guilty not doing one this time! We'll be celebrating a wedding anniversary as well as a birthday when we go after Christmas, so maybe we'll "splurge" with the Private Affair. (By the way, has anyone ever taken their children to PA? Ours will be 15 (birthday girl), 12, and 10.)

We ate in our villa the whole time--I always tend to buy too much at the grocery as well as bring too much! That's ok, though, because it gave us a chance to relax and not have to "get ready to go out". Although Piggly Wiggly is closest to the resort, next time I think I'll drive to the Publix near Barnes & Noble for my groceries. They seemed to have a nicer selection in the bakery and deli sections.

We rented bikes from Hilton Head Bike Co. I'd use them again--they drop off and pick up at the villa door! We had to change one of our bikes to a smaller frame and they did that for no charge. Because we rented so many bikes (6), he gave me what I thought was a good rate--$12/bike (dropped off Mon, picked up Fri am). He acted like he was desperate to get rid of a lot of bikes, so I'm not sure this "deal" is always in effect, but you can bet I'll try for it again!

That's about it for now. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and info-sharing on this board. I don't often post but I read plenty! You have helped me in many ways--and I'm sure I'm not the only "lurker" who gains from your expertise! :D

Disney's Hilton Head Resort can be VERY addicting! I absolutely love it there and am currently going through severe withdrawal at the moment, since we don't have a trip planned till Labor Day!

Thanks for sharing your great trip with us!

We did PA this and last April and both times brought our 3 kids (12,9,6). We brought them lunchables (a rare treat for them) and they just played with the ping pong, and we brought an activity book for the 6 year old. We were going to take a picture of Chef Gordon opening their boxes of lunchables, but didn't. I would not hesitate to bring kids to it. It is such a great evening, and really is not so expensive when you consider it includes the wine with all the courses.

Thanks so much for the review, hoosiergirl... glad you had such a great time and that another trip is on deck for you!

oohhhh..How I love to hear these reports. We are heading donw to HH tomorrow!

Glad you had a great time,
Karen
