We LOVED IT !!!!! We should have done this years ago !!!!

My two daughters were so surprised. We did not tell them we bought into dvc and they thought we were staying at All Star Movies. We watched the Epcot fireworks and then walked over to the beach club ... Our youngest (17) said in a daydream type voice as she looked at the pool "I would love to stay here but at least we are in Disney.". Then we gave the girls our resort maps and said SUPRISE !!!!!! We stayed two night there and then eight nights at the Boardwalk. Both resorts were WONDERFUL !!!! The pool at the beach club, the street entertainers at the boardwalk and the walk home from Epcot almost every night !!! We are already thinking about getting more points ...
The girls want to stay at the beach club again in early June (1-10.) Is that a popular dvc time to vacation ??? We are thinking about buying resale at the beach club just for the 11 month window but will probably not close until after that window closes ... Does anyone know what are my chances at 7 months ???

Chances are pretty good if you call as soon as your 7 month window opens. The very first part of June is easier to book at 7 months than are arrivals after the first few days when more schools let out for the summer.

I love the EPCOT resorts, too!

We really want a one bedroom and would be willing to split stay if need be ... We took the girls over to akv and they said they would love to try that one too.
I can not believe it took us 20 vacations over the last 10 years to finally buy into the DVC !!!!

:cool1::cool1:

I was able to get a 7 month BCV reservation in August a few years back. If you call right around that time, I think there is always a chance. And, if you bought now, you'd be pretty close to closing around that time.

Remember, you can always book your current home resort now and then exactly at 7 months, if your BCV contract hasn't closed yet, trade out then.

But, for the long term, if you know you want BCV to book 11 months out, then it is something to consider.

We own BLT and BWV just so we can book what we want, when we want for those resorts because we know this is where we want to stay!

Good luck and I am glad you had such a great time!!!

I'm so happy to hear that you & your family enjoyed your first DVC stay so much! I bought BCV points when I realized that THAT would be the place we really wanted to stay for certain trips. I do think you will be able to book early June at 7 months out, but I also think buying some points there is a better idea so you won't be disappointed at other times.

We will definitly be buying BCV points by the end of this year but do not want to rush into it just for the next big trip. It has to be the right contract for us (hopeful for about 150 to 200 points with our same user month so it will be less confusing.)
Thanks !!!

I'm glad you are enjoying being a DVC member. It was the best decision I ever made!

If you decide to buy resale points for BCV, check with member services to see what the regulations are regarding their use. If I remember correctly, you would only be able to use those points to stay at a DVC resort. That means you wouldn't be able to use those points for a DCL cruise or ABD trip. I don't remember whether you can use resale points to book an RCI exchange.

I agree with you, do not rush your purchase...the ideal one will eventually be available.

Like you we traveled to WDW for years before buying into DVC, and have added on several times since. :) We love our 'escape' to WDW and actually call it 'fall birding'(instead of snowbirding) because we go in Oct. for the Food and Wine Fest (kids are grown).

Enjoy!

We too waited 20 years of many disney vacations. We stayed in a GV at OKW if 2011 and asked our adult daughters, well, do ya like it? What do ya think? We bought resale a month after our trip...but I realized I coveted the "SAB"...so we bought a 100 point contract there, then realized I most likely would need 107 for a studio in the fall, so jumped on a 64 resale and paid asking price ($80) 'cause I just need a small contract. So, I'm a happy camper...I get my views at OKW and my pool at BCV. Next up, VWL and I'll be finished :rotfl2: ...I love the Lodge during the Holidays... YEAH me, we were lucky and I changed one day of our proposed trip, we switched at the exact 7 month from BVC to VWL this year....:santa:

That is such a lovely story. What a great way to surprise your children; their comments were so sweet. Here is wishing you many years of magical vacations as DVC members.

If you don't find the right contract before the 7 months window opens for your June stay, you may borrow points from your next UY and then next year use your other contract (maybe just look also for a contract with banked points).

However buying another contract would mean other 30 years of MF for more points. Are you sure you'll continue to do two trips per year for many years to come?
You could also consider renting (or transferring) points now, try other resorts and maybe you'll fall in love with another resort and want your second contract there.

We own at BCV. 1st week or two of June may not be too difficult at 7 months.

However, it may depend on the accomodations you are looking for. If you are trying for a two bedroom and have to have a dedicated with two queens in the 2nd bedroom, than owning their may be beneficial.
