We got in very early this morning from a fabulous trip "home" to the BCVs over Easter. We flew out on Good Friday morning on SWA out of DTW with a change of planes at BNA. Got "C" boarding cards at check-in at DTW at 5:00 a.m. on the DTW-BNA leg but DH and I still managed to sit together. We got "B" boarding passes for the BNA to MCO leg and managed to snag EXIT ROW seats. Lots of families were denied the Exit Row because they had children in other rows. SWA held preboarding down to those with special needs and children under 4 and IMMEDIATE family only. Grandparents were denied. On our trip back, someone in the "A" group tried to hold Exit Row seats for some friends further back. The FA put a kabash on that! Also, the FA made an elderly lady move out of the EXIT row on one of our legs because she felt she would be unable to assist if needed. WTG SWA! Also, the BNA - MCO leg was very turbulent. It was a testimony to NOT having a lap child. One lap child smacked his head on the tray table and it raised a nice goose egg. Had that child been belted in, it wouldn't have happened!
Check in on Friday went great. We had a cheery CM at 12:30. Room was assigned but not ready, (One Bedroom, fifth floor right by the middle elevator). DH and I headed over to DTD and grabbed lunch at Earl of Sandwich and then did some shopping. We called about 3:00 and the room was ready so we headed to PUBLIX and back to the BCVs. We had friends that later joined us in the evening. We found the room in GREAT condition and had absolutely NO problems at all.
We were thrilled to find out that the new Marketplace at the BC opened that day. This is a real advantage. It offers a limited selection of sandwiches, clam chowder and a Mug Refill station. It is very convenient to the BCVs. We grabbed a quick lunch there on Saturday and found the food tastey! Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Our friends did some training runs on Saturday morning (one is trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon) while DH and I vegged. We walked over to EPCOT and enjoyed the beautiful day. Later in the evening we had PS at Whispering Canyon for dinner and had a great time. If any of you were there, our table was the one with the cell phone.
Afterwards, we headed over to WDW and Buzz was a walk on, along with the TTA. We stayed for Wishes and headed out of the park and back to bed.
On Easter Sunday morning we had PS at Cape May and again, had a great time. The characters were great, as was the food. We walked off our breakfast at EPCOT again, did El Rio and Spaceship Earth. We checked out of our one bedroom and into a studio (431 dedicated, wood view, amazing balcony) and said good bye to our friends who were headed back home. 431 is a smoking optional room. I could tell someone had smoked in it, but it wasn't overpowering. Again, we found NO problems with this room. It was clean and in good condition, albeit normal wear and tear. Sunday evening had us at EPCOT for ILLUMINATIONS. It was late in starting due to "technical difficulities" They ended up towing the globe out prior to the show and the whole fire scene during CHAOS was eliminated. Later in the week, things were back to normal.
The rest of the vacation, DH and I played by ear. We ended up at the MK on Tuesday morning about 9ish and by noon had done Pirates, HM, TTA, Mickey's Philharmagic as walk ons, believe it or not! By noon, the park was getting crowded so we headed on out. We went over to MGM and got fast passes for the Auto Stunt Show. We were WOWED! This is a great show and it's going to be a crowd pleaser for sure! We also did WWTBAM and I ended up in 4th place!
Tuesday evening we enjoyed our dinner at the YACHTSMAN STEAK HOUSE. The food was excellent as usual as was our favorite server. We headed back over to DTD for some shopping and ice cream for dessert.
I guess my favorite part of the trip was heading over to SSR (we stayed there on points last July) and did an add on over there. The incentive for an additional 100 points into my use year just put us over the edge. We had to wait until today to start the paper work since we have an April use year. We also renewed our APs with our DVC discount. I really appreciate that perk!
All in all it was a fantastic trip. The weather could not have been more perfect. This was not a commando park trip for DH and myself. We don't do that anymore. We go to enjoy the resorts and grab some park time as the mood suits us. We were even able to grab some rocking chairs along SAB and read in the shade for a few hours!
I am heading back in June to stay at VWL on a Friends ONLY weekend with no spouses or SOs. I can't wait for that.
I really love the flexibilty that DVC offers and my ony regret is that we didn't do it YEARS ago.
