My DW and I are recently back from BCV (12/5 to 12/9) and two nights at OKW. We had a great time at both!
I requested a non-smoking studio with an EPCOT view and got exactly that on the 4th floor.
Spaceship Earth was a straight shot from our balcony and we had a view of Illuminations as well. On our first night we watched it from our balcony. Our room was very convenient to the parking lot, just a few doors down and a few flights of stairs. The laundry was right down the hall, but we didn't bother using it for such a short stay.
The Christmas decorations in the lobby were very well done and festive. The Beach Club lobby was beautiful, too, with a tree and LARGE ginger bread Merry-Go-Round. The short walk to the International Gateway at EPCOT is a real advantage as is the ability to walk to MGM if you are so inclined (about 15 minutes). It was a very peaceful walk. No one else was on the walkway on the morning I used it.
After four nights there we moved to OKW for a couple of nights where we had a studio in the South Point section. It was the first time that I requested a room in the Turtle Pond section that we didn't get one, but it did not matter much this time because we did not plan to use the pool. We had a view of the Trumbo Canal from our porch.
Overall, the weather was pretty good with only one day of heavy rain all day. Mostly we had sunny weather with mild temps and highs in the 70's.
One of the high points was the CP with James Avery as narrator. He is SO GOOD and really seems to enjoy himself doing it. We had seen him before, but this time there was one point in the narration that he was so moving that the audience applauded him for the narration itself, something I had never seen before. They should make a recording with him. The choir and orchestra that night were OUTSTANDING!!
Another treat was the taping of the Christmas parade at the MK on Saturday, 12/7. There were several tapings during the day of segments for the Christmas day show including the ribbon cutting with Regis and Kelly Ripa. The actual full parade was supposed to run at 4:00 PM, but they kept delaying itbecause they were behind schedule. It finally ran at 5:20 as it was getting dark so I don't think they will be using anything from that run
, but it was wonderful to see in person. We got to see it again at MVMCP, something that we had not planned to do, but were very glad we did after experiencing it.
We had excellent meals at Flying Fish, Artist Pointe, Spoodles and Le Cellier and a few desserts at the Bakery in "France". We had some delicious sandwiches at the Tangerine Cafe, too. We can't wait until the next trip!!!
