Back from Alaska... Seven Days is not Enough!

From what I've seen, it is Cinderella, rapunzel, Tiana, belle and Ariel. I leave on Monday and can confirm when I get back.

Can't remember if I saw Tiana but all the others are correct besides Anna and Elsa. Only way to meet the princesses seems to be the ticketed princess gathering. Our cruise only had a small handful of princess times that I remember reading in the navigator. They also have Tinker Bell if you are interested.

We were on the 6/29 sailing and saw Cinderella, Belle, Rapunzel and Ariel at the ticketed princess gathering, plus Elsa, Anna and Olaf (also ticketed) and lots of other characters at various places around the ship. On Frozen night (Skagway) between dinner seatings we ran into characters all over the place. Among others, we saw Belle in her village costume outside studio sea and my daughter played shuffle board with Goofy and Pluto outside on deck 4. No lines or advertised appearances, they were just out and about!

I agree, 7 days is not enough. I still have the cruise blues and I got off the ship almost 3 weeks ago! I am already planning our next cruise. I really would love another Disney Alaska cruise. I wish they had other itineraries....

Haha, don't be ashamed to admit that! Your group was always well mannered and looking like they were having a good time! I also loved those shirts! I'm usually not a fan of matching tshirts, but yours were unique and tasteful. Family trip done right! pixiedust:

Thanks for the kind words! We were probably on our best behavior when we were wearing the shirts!

Bell would be a nice addition, she was not on last time. Have fun, would love an update when you get back.

Thank you so much. Leaving in 40 days and can't wait. We too have booked Adventures in Alaska. Excited to read your full trip review. Who is George and how much did it cost to return to the ship from the glacier? We paid extra for them to drop us off at the Glacier. Did you feel you had enough time to do the sights on the HOHO?

George was the taxi driver. He was the one Adventures in Alaska hired to pick us up from the ship and he also picked us up after whale watching and took us to the glacier. The return trip to the ship from the glacier was around $45.

HOHO was a convenient way to get around but they show up every 20 mins or so, which may or may not work for you. We also found that some things were within an easy walking distance to each other. The one thing that I didn't like is that the service ends shortly after 5 pm.

HTH!

We were lucky enough to do the 9 day last year and that was too short! We ate at Miku twice (before and after) and my husband talks about it all the time! :flower1:

Hi-
Thanks so much for your review, it sounds like you had an amazing time. We are going on the cruise the end of the month, we booked the White pass Railway with gold dredge. I see that you booked a private tour, which one did you book that included the gold dredge as well? I looked on the website for Fronter Excursions and didnt see one that included it. Also- did you take the train up and car/bus back? Was the gold dredge worth it? Did they take you to the same place that Disney goes.

Thanks, sorry for all the questions. We booked the other ports with private companies (mostly because they are charging my 10yr old as an adult and private tours she is still a kid- so we saved a bunch of money). If we can do this with a private excursion that would be great.

Alison

Skagway

Fronter Excursions - White Pass Summit train w/ gold panning. We were on the train that broke in Dead Horse Gulch and in the longer tunnel. After we arrived in Fraser, Tyler (our driver) made sure we could make all of our photo stops and still do the gold panning and make it back to the ship on time. The folks at the gold panning stop were awesome. There were 10 of us and they gave us our own guide and table. It was very personalized.

We ended up booking a custom tour with Frontier Excursions to get the train ride and gold panning combo.

We took the train up (sat on the left side - great tip from this board) and drove down to the gold panning. I think we were at Klondike Gold Fields and I think Disney goes to Liarsville.

For us, it was an additional $25 per person to add on the gold panning (we were a group of 10). The kids and adults enjoyed it. We just did the short intro and then the panning but I think that was because we had been delayed by the train issues. We didn't get to go on the dredge tour, which was fine with us.

Hope that helps and feel free to ask more questions!

thanks so much, was it worth it? or too touristy? Is the gold you "find" tiny flakes or can you do something with it?
did Fronteir book the whole thing for you, or will we buy the train ticket and then meet them at the top?

Thnaks again so much
Alison

I thought it was worth it. We all "found" tiny nuggets. DH gave his nuggets to DD7 and she made a pendant out of them.

Sorry if the pic is blurry. The gold was more like tiny nuggets, not flakes. The pendant is an extra cost.

Frontier took care of everything. They picked us up at the dock (or you can meet them at their office in town) and drove us to the train. They had a train car already set for us. We never touched a ticket. Then the driver met us in Fraser and drove us to the gold panning and made sure we were all set and came back at an agreed upon time for the return to the ship. It was great to not have to worry about anything!

thanks again so much, the pendant is adorable, I would give my gold nuggets to my daughters as well. I think they would enjoy it more than I would. it looks adorable.
thanks again SO much for all of your information and help. I really appreciate it. I am so excited to go, counting down the days. We are also going Whale Watching in Juneau, I can not wait.
