We were there less than two weeks ago, and it was our 3rd stay at BLT (and our 20th wedding anniv trip). I've loved staying there, and it was right at the top for us as far as favorite resorts go. So much so that I have hesitated to post this. It's like I don't want to say it but I need to. SO here goes...
While we had a wonderful, magical time at WDW, I was very disappointed in BLT. We have only been in a 1-bed prior, and this trip we were in a studio. So the size difference was significant but I knew that going in. What bothered me so much was the condition of the room. It was bad. Dirty carpet that I immediately felt I needed to vacuum. A dirty towel left in the bathroom from previous guest making me think the room had not been cleaned well. Bulbs out in the bathroom. Exposed can light in the bathroom to where you could just see up into the open ceiling. Scratches and marks (lots!) on the drawer fronts. The sofa had definitely seen better days. The mattress was so poor on the bed that my dh had to sleep on the sofa bed so I could sleep in the middle of the bed. Otherwise, you would spend all night feeling like you would roll off. There was also a smell that I could not place. I noticed it every time we entered the room but then I would get used to it. It wasn't a good smell but wasn't awful either.
There are probably other things I am forgetting. I've tried not to dwell on it as I want to have good memories from the trip, and this was likely our last chance to stay there.
I know some will say I should have contacted housekeeping or asked to change rooms. But here is the deal, we were staying on rented points. I know I have read things on here before about owners having to pay a fee if they ask to change rooms (or something like that??) and I certainly did not want to cause any problems for the owner we rented from. If I owned DVC or was paying cash, I'd have been downstairs very quickly making them move us. However, in this case, I just did not feel I could.
