Well this was our first time at OKW and it was pretty good. We normally stay at BWV, but with some of the guests we brought along we decided to change and stay at OKW this time. We brought alot of my husbands family this time (15 of us in all). We checked in on 1/16/05 along with what seemed to be 100 other DVCers... Took a while to get checked in. I had 5 rooms to get checked in and we got there around 1pm. Out of 5 rooms there were 2 ready. So we went over to Olivias to grab a bite to eat. My DH and I split a burger and when we got it; it was still bleeding (yuck)so we sent it back and they took forever to bring it out so we had to have them pack it to go. Everyone else was done eating by the time they brought it out. We did eat off my 2year olds burger and fries. Just were happy to be there. This is why I cook the entire time I am at Disney. We just are not ones to eat out much. Here is who all came just to give a background look...

Myself, DH and DS (2)
My FIL and MIL
My DHB and DHS and their spouses
My DHU and wife
My DHCousin and spouse and their son and his daughter

We had a 2-BR and 4 studios; which I requested all nonsmoking and close together. Got the nonsmoking and all were in buildings 34 and 35. So it was fine. Got into the rooms by 3:30 and went to the grocery store after unpacking. I had made my grocery list and menu at home months before hand. Did alot of research on where to shop and wound up going to Winn Dixie and it was just fine. I was going to cook lasagna for dinner on Sunday night but wound up doing sandwiches since it was 6 by the time we got everything unloaded. Just rested the first night and took a stroll down to DTD to find that several stores are down for refirbishment. Always something I say..... And then I tell myself that they are just making things better.... Went to bed around 11 and shivered myself to sleep. It was alot colder than we thought it would be.... About 15 degrees lower than the norm for Florida this time of year. Got up at 6am and started coffee with breakfast. Had it ready at 7:30am and we had eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and I brought my Mickey Mouse waffle iron and yes I made waffles.. We went to Magic Kingdom around 10am with some of the family and had to leave them there because my son was not feeling well around noon. Then we discovered that he was cutting his 2year molars..... Always something. Stopped by the baby care center and got a tube of ointment to ease the pain. I could feel the lump and tips from one side on the bottom. Poor little guy. Took him back to the room and he slept a while. Cooked supper and we did the lasagna and I made a banana pudding. Just took it easy the rest of the day.
Up and had breakfast ready at 7:30 again (had the same every morning) and my DS was still not feeling well so we left him with my inlaws and my DH and I took his sister and her hubby to Epcot. She had never been. In fact most of his family had never been to Disney. So we enjoyed all the cool stuff around Epcot and got back to the room around 5pm. We had hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill with potato salad baked beans and I made a "pig-pickin"cake (I am from North Carolina). The day ended well... To bed around 11.
Wed - Up and breakfast (same again) at 8am and my DH took his folks with his DB to Epcot. I stayed with my boy in so he could rest. We went for a walk and enjoyed being at OKW. He loved feeding the ducks and seeing all the birds. And boy did he love walking all over. We walked to the Community Hall and then took the bus back because he was begging to ride the bus. Fixed supper of Chicken with green beans mashed potatoes carrots and biscuits. Took it easy and went back out to the store for more sodas and popcicles for my boys teeth. They always help him. To bed by 11 after we all got into LOST. We are all hooked.....
Thurs.- My DH and son and I went to MK after the same breakfast and we spent the entire day together. We did come back for lunch to the room so my boy could nap and we could get some flight stuff taken care of. I went to DTD by myself while the boys rested. Came back and made spaghetti for supper and then after supper my boys and I went back to MK for fireworks and to see the big guy... Mickey Mouse of course. My son loves him and it was so cute the way he ran up to him and hugged his neck... He sure loves Mickey. Got all packed and all when we got back and we were ready to go home because it was not such a fun trip with him hurting.
Friday- time to go home already... Some of the ones that had not been to Disney did not want to go home and we know how they feel. I am a huge Disney fan. We left for the airport around 10:30am and I sure miss it already. We are going to go for alot longer time next time we go. Here are a few things that I did notice when we were there this time. Some are about OKW and some of the parks but this is just my take on things, and I still love Disney.. Always will....

The cast members were so kind to have sent my DH and I balloons and a card from Cinderella for our 10 year anniversary. I mentioned it when we booked the room with MS and I think that I did when we checked in. I was so shocked when they were at the door. It was really special and I was surprised. LOVED IT...
Our room had little things with it.. Pictures were dirty and I had to clean them. Mirrors were not cleaned well so I cleaned them too. I brought some of those Windex wipes and they are great to do this with. The coffee table was dirty so we had to clean it. The nightstand in the master had something sticky all over it and I had to clean it. There was a bulb out in the bathroom.
My husbands family found a pair of boxer shorts under the bed and then a trashcan of beer cans under their sink.
It took a good long time to check in. I have never had to wait that long to check in. OKW is either bigger than BWV or it was because of it being a holiday. One of the cast members did mention that they were at 100% for that night.
I am not sure I like the new ticketing system. Sometimes when we have taken people in the past they have bought the 5 day hopper and used only 3 days so we bought the other 2 days from them. Now they are putting your names on the tickets and scanning your finger when you use them. I guess this will stop that. So much for saving some money for folks.
Loved that you could park and carry stuff in so much easier than at BWV and the rooms are lots bigger too!!
Things are smaller now and I have noticed that prices are going up on everything (not just at Disney) but we are getting less... And the quality is just not the same. I noticed this in the rice crispie treats we always get. And they were stale this time. Never have been before.
Alot of things are not like they used to be. I have never seen any cast members goofing off on the job and I saw alot of it this time. Saw one girl throwing ice at another in MK. I was kindof shocked.
I actually got on 2 new busses this trip and they are really nice.
I did notice that the busses from OKW to anywhere were alot less time than from BWV to the other parks. And the wait time was not bad at all.

Well I hope this helps and I would be glad to answer any questions that you all have. We had a great time but are going to save our points for the next few years and our next trip will be Jan of 07' Seems so far away but I know it will be here before you know it.

Glad to hear you and your family had a nice time. But boy that's alot of cooking :earseek:

Thanks for posting. We have a few points at OKW, but haven't stayed there, yet. If our waitlist at BCV and BWV does not come thru in April. We wil be staying there. I think it looks SO cute!!

Glad you had a great trip. The teething will be over soon, but I am sorry it had to happen on your trip. My dd is SO far behind on teething. She turned 3 in Dec., and is just now getting her two year-old molars!! But, we are lucky in that she has never once fussed about any teeth coming in. I think they come in SOO slowly (seriously, over a period of months) that she doesn't even notice.

Start planning that next trip!!!

Thank you for sharing your OKW trip report. Yes, OKW was sold out last Sunday, so I suspect that accounted for some of your wait time. Did you let housekeeping know about the various details that were not done before you checked in? Housekepeing needs to know this info. I agree - you did a lot of cooking! I hope everyone appreciated your time & effort.

Sounds like overall you had a fantastic trip!

Wow you do cook a lot! You sound like one of the few that actually uses the kitchen for more than making coffee and maybe a sandwich from time to time lol

I bet the same thing that we all have been saying about a few bad DVCers hapened with you and those CMs that you noticed. By and large, 99% of everyone is so great that the ones that aren't stick out badly don't they?

Hope even your son had a fantastic trip. :flower1:
