We went for our Site Visit over the weekend. It went really well. We looked at 3 reception locations that we had been considering. Studios-Prop Shop, Epcot-Odyssey and Living Seas.
Our 1st stop was the Prop Shop. Going into the visit I had planned on not liking this place. I thought it would be too busy and too cluttered. We walked in and I felt like a kid in a candy store. All these things I remember seeing as a kid were now all right in front of me. I was sold right there. I almost felt like it would be a waste of time.

We headed over to Epcot and checked out The Odyssey. They were setting up for an event that night so it was kinda cool to see the lights on the walls and everything up and running, but it was so much bigger then I remembered. Also we noticed lots of people pressing their faces to the windows and that bothered us a bit.

Our last stop was Living Seas. I knew I loved the wall. We walked in and it was nice, but I could tell that David didn't like it. Then I noticed hanging on one wall was

I freaked out a little bit. It sadly was the only thing I could notice in the place.

How does the Prop Shop get set up for a reception? DO you have an idea of how you want it?

As far as I know there are just table rounds set up and we'll have a buffet set in one corner. and the cake in an area. We were told a wedding reception hadn't been held there before. We'd go back and meet with lighting and operations when we go back for our planning session.

We can't decide what props will be there and what won't. Someone at Disney may decide they need that huge anchor for something and they'll remove it and replace it with something else. Several things we saw we knew weren't leaving like anything that says MGM-Studios. We do hope the brooms and the sleeping Simba stay, but outside of that we're not attached to any one thing in particular.

I never would have thought of the prop shop that is so cool.

was there a site fee for the prop shop if so how much?

$300 for the venue rental

$1500++ Food and Beverage minimum (Dinner) $520.00++ Food & Beverage minimum (Lunch)

It has a max of 100 people, but it honestly looked like it would be cramped with more then about 50. We're looking at having about 30-40 so we think it'll work out great.

Love the prop shop idea! Thanks for posting the Odyssey pic I went to a character meal with my parents when its used to be restaurant in 1993 and have tried to fidn photos on here before :thumbsup2

Oh I love it!! Do you get to have it during park hours (since one of the minimums mentioned lunch)?

You don't have to use it during park hours, but since it's backstage you can use it during park hours.

We'll be using it for lunch. We also aren't telling our guests anything about it. They'll be told the ceremony will be in Japan and then they'll head over to Studios to ride Toy Story Mania (that was supposed to be a surprise, but DFi started telling everyone)
