DAY 2 - FRIDAY 4TH MAY
I was up at 7.30am as needed to wash my hair and as I crept out of the bedroom Madelane woke up to and then ran into her daddy and bounced all over the bed!! So that was him awake. Madelane, Nana and Grandad went off to get breakfast from one of the huts whilst I prepared sandwiches for the day using our cool bag and cool sachets. Tuna butties, water, crisps and mars bars and 2 flasks of tea - yum yum. Theres nothing like flask tea.
I rang housekeeping to ask for 6 more towels as we had used the others in the pool last night and within half an hour a man arrived to collect our old one and replace them with new ones - very good service.
Madelane was so excited when she came back carrying our breakfast in lovely paper baskets, that contained 1 large baguette, 10 croissants, butters, jams, choc spreas, tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate and a carton of ling life milk and a carton of orange juice. We had also bought porridge from home which Madelane had along with a banana smuggled out of the restaurant last night.
So we were ready and on the road for 9.30am and again got lost on the way to the park even with sat nav!!!! Dont ask!!!! We found our way and got to the park for 10.10am and drove straight to block B, near the font row. On the moving escalators - which are great and straight into the park for a stroller for Madelane and to hang our bags over and Daddy made a dash for the buzz fast passes as planned and met up with us at the castle stage for about 10.30am. Our fast pass time were 11.30-11.50. As we headed for the castle stage I could see that the queue was only about 20 people and to our joy it was ALICE IN WONDERLAND AND THE MAD HATTER - who my daughter just adores so we joined the queue and Madelane eagerly watched. I remember from last year that the character change very half an hour so was anxious that we would get to Alice before she changed and we heard the CM says to ALICE that the next character was late and just after 10.45am we were at the front.
Madelane went to Alice and I told her that Madelane adored Alice and the Mad Hatter said, what about me and started jumping all over the place. Madelane told him that she liked him too and they signed autographs and posed for pictures. They commented on her red spotty dress that she had on and her sparkly pink shoes. Just as we exited from the right hand side we saw the next two characters which was Esmeralda and the Prince, who posed for a photo too.
I have to admit that I cried a few tears when she came down from seeing Alice as the look on her face said it all to me. Madelane was thrilled to bits. We walked round the corner where we saw Pinocchio, the Queen of Hearts who was being very funny, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale and we got pictures with them all. We stopped outside the place where the lion king shows for our (flask) cuppa and a mars bar and shortbread and them off to have our ride on the BUZZ ride which we all thought was great but I had a terrible score of only 23,000. Madelane loved spinning us round in the cars. This is a ride we will do again and then walked back the way we came past castle stage and Esmeralda was still there so we joined the queue for her, again conscious that they change every half an hour. As we reached the top we could se Alice and the Mad Hatter coming out to take her place so had our fingers crossed that we could see Esmeralda and we did!!! We were the last people able to see her and Alice and the Made Hatter came on stage and actually remembered Madelanes name and said hello to her. The Mad Hatter said she was his friend and gave her a kiss!!!!!!!!!
We decided to head over to Disney studios to have our lunch and watch the 1.30pm parade but when we got there it was nearly over as we had to stop to swap prams over etc. We sat in the sun and had our lunch and we could see a few people gathered down in one corner and as we walked over it was Mickey Mouse so we joined the short queue. By this time Madelane had her soft cuddly Minnie mouse toy in her arms and Mickey took it off her and kissed it and twirled Madelane around.
OH went on the Aeorsmith roller coaster twice, queue was small but his enjoyment was spolit by him loosing his spectacles after leaving them on the top of Madelanes pram. The pram never left our sight
but his glasses disappeared and he needs them for everyday vision. We were gutted as we could not find them anywhere. We checked at the lost property department in the studios and she told us to try city hall tomorrow at about 5pm incase they had been handed in but we knew that we wouldnt find them again as if they had dropped off the pram we thought that someone would ask us if they belonged to us if we were stood near them. So we went off knowing that on Monday when we returned home we would have to buy a new pair of glasses.
Madelane and her nana had two quick rides on the Flying carpets as the queues were short again and the CM let me go under the barrier to get a good photo. I have to say that we found the CM so helpful and friendly, possibly much more than I remembered from last year. We then saw Daisy Duck, Scrooge, and queued for Minnie Mouse near her limo.
We headed back to Disneyland park for the 4pm parade and sat near the station where there were hardly any people and waited to see the floats. Madelane by this time was feeling quite poorly as she is asthmatic and was coming on with a chest infection. We sat her on the floor with her cap on and a drink and she chatted with a couple of little girls nearby. The floats were wonderful this year!!!
When Alices float came along the Mad Hatter came over to her and said, I remember you from this morning, and reached into his bag and gave her some pre-wrapped cookies which she enjoyed. I couldnt believe that from all the kiddies they must see he actually recgnisded her. We got it all on video as he also gave her some gold streamers to hold. I thanked him and said she would remember this day for a very long time.
After the parade it was time for our character tea party at 5pm at the plaza gardens which I had booked as surprise before we went. We were quickly seated and we asked what the procedure was for getting food as no-one seemed to be getting up. I had already been up to see what was there to eat . The characters came out to see the people whose birthday it was first and then came round to the tables. We saw, Baloo. Rafiki who taught Madelane how to bow properly, Tigger, a brown bear who I dont know the name of, as well as Pluto. I have written a review of the tea party on the plaza gardens restaurant review so wont bore you again. Just to say it was great value and I will be booking this again, next time we go.
We got out just in time to see the end of the Candlebration celebration with the characters dancing and the lighting of the castle. Im sure this effect must be great in the dark but it was still light although the clouds were getting closer and darker. We had a look round some shops on our way out and headed back for an earlier night. As we started back through to the car park the heavens opened along with thunder and lightening and rain like I have never seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We got back to the cabin and had a cup of tea and a biccie and madelane had a lovely bubble bath and into her pjs whilst we watched a bit of Disney channel on the TV. She was asleep by 9pm ready for our third day. Me and OH planned our next day - Saturday as we expected not being able to get on many rides due to the crowds and that we would like to get tickets for the lion king show as we didnt see it last year. I put the heaters on in the cabin to dry some clothes until we smelt a burning smell . Silly me!!! They are blow heaters, not meant for drying my undies over!!!!!
This is the night that Madelane became more poorly and woke feverish in the night coughing up phlegm and unable to catch her breath. We cooled her down and gave her inhalers and waited till she calmed down and then we put her in bed with her daddy as I didnt like her being on the top bunk and being poorly. We all had a cuppa and waited for her to go back off and decided that we would have to let her sleep in the next day so would take the day as it comes depending on how she felt when she awoke and what time, of course.
