Babycakes News

Does anyone know where I can find a menu and a price list for Babycakes ?
Specifically the one in Downtown Disney. Thanks:cloud9:

Great news! I must say some of the dessert options get a little old at WDW (how many brownies can you eat in a week?!)--I'd love to be able to get some of the Babycakes options. As soon as this comes available, I'm going to try it now that we live 1 1/2 hrs. from WDW and have been going on the weekends at a shocking rate :lmao:

Can't wait to hear what ya'll find out! :thumbsup2

There is not really a menu as the offerings change. They usually offer donuts:thumbsup2, cupcakes, banana bread type slices, brownie bites and did I mention donuts? LOL

The brownie bites are about 1.50 (I think) and the rest of the offerings range 3-5.00 each.

I sent an e-mail to Disney Special Dining asking this question. I got a pretty vague answer which now makes sense being that the details are being finalized. I really hope that it works out because my daughter gets sick of the packaged desserts, especially when she sees her sisters eating such great stuff.

My TA just spoke with them today and still no updates. They seem to think they'll be able to get something in place before my trip (we leave in 9 days) but I'm doubtful. Sigh..........

They really shouldn't have publicly announced this before they were ready.

Thanks for the response. It is unfortunate that they announced it- as if it were already in place when in fact it was not.

This is all to exciting and I am hoping I can work it out for my son somehow. I plan on arriving at DTD Sat night (aug. 13),hopefully Babycakes will still be open...staying for a quick overnight at one of those hotels on Inter. drive. I will ask and push for this to get moving there....then we check in at the poly sun. for a full week. I will make sure to ask, push the whole week!! Back to DTD Thurs. afternoon/eve and will hit babycakes again.:cheer2:

I am there for a full week and will work this!!! As for higher prices on special products, It think if it is a fresh dessert and they just leave off "offending" gluten and other items many things are naturally gluten free....no extra charge. However I see some places offer many GF pre-packaged items and we all know how expensive all that stuff is. :sad2:

I would gladly pay extra for a fresh , yummy treat for my son that he can't normally have. I plan on using our fridge and hopefully room micro to keep his treats "fresh" all week. :rolleyes1

Lets hope this plan gets rolling really soon-(am I hoping too much by this weekend..:rotfl2:)

Here is the babycake link to there website, they are really good about emailing back right away too!

Here's the latest.

I called the cake line at our resort to find out if there was any way at all that we could get a cake that's free of our long list of allergens for a dinner at our resort. The woman I spoke with asked me to email our list of allergens to her and said she's talk to the pastry chef at the resort to see what could be done about baking us something there and that it was not possible to arrange for a cake from Babycakes. This was on Wednesday.

A little while ago I got a call from somebody at the bakery of the resort saying that because of cross contamination possibilities, they couldn't bake anything in their bakery but that they are contracting to an approved vendor at WDW who specializes in these kinds of allergies to provide cakes. I asked if the vendor was Babycakes and she said yes. I think I practically squeeled with excitement. She told me that the bakery would call me directly for the details of the order and that somebody from the resort would pick it up and bring it to the resort to deliver to us at our ADR.

The gentleman from Babycakes called shortly after and I placed the order. I'm SOOOOO excited!!! I made sure he knew how excited. I couldn't stop repeating that. LOL I mentioned that last I had heard, arrangements had not yet been made for resort or restaurant deliveries. He said that right now it's very much up to the individual venue to decide if they will place orders with them and come pick up items from them or not. Babycakes is not actually doing a delivery, it's our resort that has offered to take care of all of the arrangements. This is a big distinction.

At the moment it's clearly on a case by case basis. I do think that the woman on the cake line would have likely offered us the regular allergy cake that's generally been offered in the past if it was actually safe for us (I would have said thanks but we'll pass on a cake) but it's not safe for us from what I understand so I think that's why they're going out of their way. I also think it makes a difference that we're staying at the same resort where we're eating. I'm actually suspecting they may be picking up a couple more goodies for us for our ADRs there over the next couple of days because the woman I spoke with in the YC bakery let it slip that the head chef at the resort had already spoken with Babycakes about us so I'm wondering if maybe we'll also get a few other treats during our stay. I'm definitely not mentioning anything about that to my kids but boy would that be WONDERFUL.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!! I'm practically tearing up.

The summary version of this is that if you want a cake, call the cake line and ask what they can do for you. You might get lucky like I did but honestly I'd also be prepared depending on your allergies to be offered the old style of allergy cake. This is still a work in progress.
