67 days 'til our vaca!!!

I've got a quick question about the baby swap...
My wife and I are going to WDW with our son (4 1/2) and our daughter (2). This trip will be great for our son since he's 41 inches and will be able to go on rides he couldn't 2 years ago but unfortunately my daughter is in the same position he was 2 years ago. So if my wife were to ride Big Thunder Mountain with my son while I stayed back with my daughter could I ride Big Thunder Mountain with my son also or is the next ride of the swap only for me? I'm not really sure of the swap policy so if someone could clarify for me that would be great. Thanks all. Can't wait!

That was the situation for us also when we went last summer. We used the swap system on Splash Mountain. They gave us three passes. One for my wife and son for when they road together, then they exit the ride and come down and my son and I went on the ride. You get to go in the fast pass lane I believe so we didn't even have to wait. It was pretty cool actually.

If you approach the first entrance to the ride and show your 2-year-old, you'll get the rider swap pass. Then you ride with your son, and the rider swap pass will allow your wife to ride with your son anytime later that day with no wait. If you use FPs for your son's first ride with you, and then the rider swap pass for his second ride with your wife, and he will get to ride twice with no wait. We have three boys, and our youngest is too small to ride the "tall rides." So our two older boys love this system! They use FPs to ride with my husband, and then use the rider swap pass to ride with me.

And for your 2-year-old, there are some great playgrounds in MK the non-riding parent can visit. Pooh's Playful Spot in Fantasyland is well known, as is the playground in Toontown. But there is also a playground right under the railroad bridge near the exit to Splash Mountain - it's perfect for the youngest while older siblings are on Splash or Big Thunder. Our youngest could have spent hours at these playgrounds and looking at toys in the stores - I'm not sure he knew what he was missing last time.

Have a great trip!!

Thanks for clarifying that. I couldn't remember the exact details of it...lol

Just to avoid any confusion, there are TWO different things that some people refer to as "child swap", "baby swap", etc.

First, there is a formal system in place at most all Fastpass attractions that have a height requirement, called Rider Switch. Follow the link for complete details (and exceptions), but this is what most people will respond with for answers.

Second, at all other attractions, or at the Rider Switch attractions where a child simply chooses not to ride, there MAY be a way to accommodate the situation. However it is different at each attraction because of the different ways loading and unloading are handled which are often in different locations. Ask the greeting CM for what the possibilities are.
