HI! We have a girl at work who is having a baby shower ... we always give a shower to co-workers having a baby. Usually, it is at someone's house, but that is getting predictable. We thought of a restaurant, but then some people say it will cost too much to eat out ... ugh! Hard to please everyone. Did anyone have baby shower at an unusual place? We are trying to get some ideas on somewhere different! Thanks in advance!

Well, someone at work had one at a bar at happy hour time...the mom to be drank non-alcoholic beer. (Would not have been my choice.)

Could you rent a room somewhere? Our library has a community room you can rent for $100. You just have to make sure it's clean.

You could either have food catered or have people bring stuff in.

Not sure if there are any of these by you, but we had a few friends baby showers at Egg Harbor. Really good breakfast restaurant. They have small rooms, and since they close early, there is no fee to rent it, you just have to wait til everyone is out of their room. Then whoever hosted just paid for lunch. Worked out really well. I would suggest seeing if there is some type of restaurant by you like that which would allow for no room charge to save on costs.

One of the nicest baby showers I have ever been to was at the library rec room. Great idea Kimberle!

Is There A Way To Have A Floating Shower At Work. When I Worked In A Large Company That Was The Way We Had To Do It, The Mother To Be Was Sent Down To The Large Conference Room Where The Shower Was Planned And Was Allowed To Have An Extra Long Lunch And As People Took Lunch They Would Come Down Give The Gift Then Grab A Bite To Eat !!!!
Not Sure If This Could Work For You Some Companies Aren't That Great Now Days !!!!!

We had a 2 baby showers at Thursday's Too (LynetteSC will know what I am talking about) for co workers and everyone paid for their own meal. If they didn't want to spend a lot of $ they ordered an appetizer. We also had other shower at Tropical Escape. Once again everyone was responsible for their meal. The hostesses picked up the tab for the guest of honor and spouse if they came and the cake.

I am not sure of other places around here that you wouldn't have to pay a fee to use.

We have another coworker that is expecting in May and I would be interested on if you find a place.

The local fire depts in my area rent out their halls for a small donation that is made towards the firehouse. Maybe you can do that and then each of you can bring a tray of food.

Good ideas guys!
SC Minnie - My office is in Ballentyne ... so they are looking for a place near there!
Thanks for the ideas! I will talk to the girl who is the main hostess about these. I never thought of a firehouse or library ... :)

You could do it at a park where you could have ever either chip in for food or do it as a potluck and you could make as much noise as you want and the park should not be a problem.

Well, if they are complaining about the price of food and they want you to get a place near Ballentyne :earseek: Oh my. There might be something in Indian Land that would be nice. How may people are you looking at?

My baby shower was at my husband's firehouse-they have a hall which is very nice. They don't rent it out to the public, it's only for firefighters and their family/friends. Price was right, too-free. LOL

Anyway I know ambulance corps, fire houses etc areound here often have halls to rent. Also Elks and VFWs.

LOL! EXACTLY! That is what I wanted to say! DUH!

Probably about 25 people. Our main office is inside the Carolina Place Mall, so they want to stick close to that ... ugh, so difficult peoples! LOL!
