If I buy an outfit for a baby in a size 3-6 month, what size shoe would I buy to go with that?

THANKS!!

Buy socks or sock-type shoes. It's summer, it's hot, and the sizes are more forgiving if you're wrong.

The following are general guidelines for average infant/toddler shoe sizing:

Size 1: Fits a baby 6-12 weeks old.
Size 2: Fits a baby 3-6 months old.
Size 3: Fits a baby 6-9 months old.
Size 4: Fits a baby 9-12 months old.
Size 5: Fits a toddler 1 to 1-1/2 years old.
Size 6: Fits a toddler 1-1/2 to 2 years old.
Size 7: Fits a toddler 2 to 2-1/2 years old.

I'd go with the socks also. Shoes on pre-walkers are for looks only and they grow sooooo fast. Plus it's summer. They'd be lucky if they are used more than a couple of times.

I'd do socks too. Or a Robeez-type shoe. Target has some really cute ones of their own brand (half the price!). Those are sized 0-6 months, 6-12, etc. More forgiving.

I would skip the shoes and give them a toy instead. I use rattles and other toys as decorations on the box when I wrap them. Putting shoes on babies is NOT easy!

i'd also just avoid shoes at this point....sorry but it's absolutely pointless.

but i do agree, go with a toy, something that will last longer than the outfit would. maybe even a couple of books or something.

No shoes for babies too small to be pulling up and standing on their own. Not only is it pointless, it's bad for their feet, too. Just get some coordinating socks.

BTW, the average US singleton baby is around 8 lbs. at birth these days, so a 3-6 mo. outfit is usually only a little loose on a newborn. Buying that size is not buying ahead to grow into by much, so plan the seasonality accordingly.

Although baby doesn't need shoes yet and it's best to have them learn to walk barefooted, it is still cute for babies to have shoes on for special occasions.

However, it's so difficult to determine what size shoe they'll be in at any given time. My son was in a 2 by three months and my daughter is almost nine months and she's just now in a size 2.

You could buy a matching hat or other accessory instead of the shoes to be on the safe side.

Our little guy wore the socks with the treads on the bottom when he first started walking around the house at 8 months old. Now that he's just over a year he wears Robeez around the house and has a couple of pairs of outdoor shoes (sandals and walking shoes.)

Definitely agree that if the baby is not walking that it's best to go for socks or even barefeet if it's warm enough. The only reason to put shoes on them at that age is appearance and there is a very good chance that they won't like wearing them (and they will let you know about their displeasure).

I would go with a toy or a book, instead of shoes.

My oldest was tiny, but had big honkin' feet for her size. A lot of well-meaning people bought her outfits with matching booties/shoes, which she couldn't wear.

That, and putting shoes and socks on babies is about as productive as herding cats - the minute you get them on, they pull them off.

Carters makes really cute booties. DD is 11 weeks and still doesn't fit into the size 0 shoes OR the 0-3 months socks. They all fall off of her feet. The only thing that seems to feet good are the Carters booties. And of course I keep losing them so I have to buy more!
