Baby BOY Names.... (that haven't been used to death)

I agree on all those "-en" names. Way overused these days. Also the last name as first name is getting too popular for me. E.g. Harrison, Grayson, Jefferson, Tyler, Taylor, etc. I also don't like what I call cowboy names: Caleb and Jasper and Brett come to mind.

I like traditional names.

James
David
William
John

All lovely names. I had a girl, btw.

My sons are Liam Patrick and Bryan Thomas.

I have 2 nephews, Branden and Neely, and one on the way, whose name will be Nathan. My 1st cousin's son is named Brody.

DH's name is Colin, which I think is a beautiful name. It's not too common, but it's not super rare either.

My boss' son is named Landon, which is another not too common name.

DS19's name was suppose to be "Brad"ley Orion, but DH at the time and DDad pitched a fit about his middle name so his middle name ended up being Russell. I still call him Bradley Orion!! :rotfl2:

The little boy I babysit for is named Orion. I love that name too!

Marsha

My boys are

Joshua
Samuel
Maximus (Max)
Oscar

Their middle names are Daniel, James, David and Luke.

I love August (nn Gus), Lucas, Eli and Ezra too :)

Portia, my best friend's oldest son is named August. His friends call him Gus.
It made me smile to see that was a name you liked.

I think you've chosen great names for your sons.:cool1:

I have a Liam (3), it was the ONLY name we agreed on, he nearly didn't even have a middle name.

I also like Kristian, Aaron, Daniel, Spencer (which my sister used on my suggestion :thumbsup2), Alex, Aleksander

It is such a hard decision to make....

I like that one too. That is DD18's middle name. My brother had told me he wanted to have a little girl named Spencer. He died while I was pregnant with her so when they did the sonogram and said she would be a girl, I said he now had a Spencer. She ended up looking and acting just like him and loves that her name is so special!!!

I agree - you have to think about the child growing up and introducing himself as an adult. That is what lured me away from the 1 or 2 "trendy" names I was considering. And, of course, since Ryan is also an adult character on All My Children, it was ok. :thumbsup2 LOL

I think the name becomes the person so it can fit them at any age. There is a 45 year old guy in our office named Hayden. We've also got men in our office named, Brycer, Jordon, and McKenzie and no one thinks they seem silly. I think people just grow into their name and it can always work. When I used to work at an assisted living center we had a lady named, Bunny, one named, Candy, and one named Ginger. They were all adorable and didn't seem silly at all....they seemed just like their names.:goodvibes

My sons name is Nolan, I had never heard it used before ( besides Nolan Ryan). Now it seems to be getting more popular.:sad2:

My DAUGHTER is named Nolan... but its my maiden name..so I wanted my first born to have it...

My sons are Eric Tyler, Kyle Nicholas and Alec Mitchell. None of been mentioned so far but are common names but not over-used.

Around here these are over-used names - Jacob, Zach, Joshua, Cody and anything with "den" at the end - Caiden, Jayden and so on.

Some of the people who I know that have had boys lately have names them Landon, William (Will), Brecken, and the "den" names.

We have a last name that is 9 letters long, my maiden name was 10. I told myself I would never saddle my children with long first names so all 4 kids have 4 letter first names. I also don't care for nicknames so that took care of the problem too. Have no problem with other people doing it, it's just not for me.

If my beautiful second daughter had been a boy, we were going to name him Quinn.

I have a nephew named Emmett, which I also think is a cool name.

Have you checked out the Social Security names site? http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ Check your potential names there to see their popularity. Keep in mind that they don't combine spelling, so the combined Aiden, Aaden, Ayden, Adin, etc. would make for one VERY popular name, even if the separate names aren't that high. Add to that the popularity of names ending in the -aden sound like Hayden, Jayden, Caden, Braden, etc., and it's a trendy sound that will date your kid's name in the future. You don't hear of many 30 year old Jadens or grandpas name Caydyn, know what I mean? My husband calls this the "Chick-fil-Aden" naming style, haha.

The SS name site ranks the top 1000 boy and girl names each year so you can see how popular they are. You can check the top 100 in your state, too, and see how the popularity of a name has changed over time. My son's name has been ranked around 20 for the past 20 years and is very recognizable, but we haven't met any other kids with his name.
