Baby Bird's FIRST CHIRP!! **AUDIO** -- and Photos, Too, Of Course!

Here's Chirpy Bird!! It was the first time I've heard any sounds from the birdlings! He didn't "say" much, but he sure does have a pretty voice! Looks like he's making plans to fly. He was watching Mom and Dad intently today as they flew back and forth from the fir tree to the sapling. Doesn't he look regal?

As you can see, it's getting more than a bit crowded in here! Can you spot all four birdies?

I love this picture for 2 reasons: (1) It's the first glimpse I've had of a bird leg! (Also notice how dark his beak is!) (2) I just cracked up when I saw the little bird being sat upon by his sibling! Can you spot him at the bottom of the nest? Only his eyes and beak are visible! Could it be Grumpy Bird?

Nativetxn - I'm not sure... All I know is that they will leave the nest 11 - 19 days after hatching. As of tomorrow, it will be Day 14 for one and Day 13 for the others. I'm hoping they'll stick around till Day 19! And who knows...maybe they'll be "late bloomers" and stick around longer!

Awww... these are all too cute! That last one is just so precious with the one being "squished" by the siblings (and no I could only find three of the four in that second picture). I am really dreading the day these babies fly away.

Helenabear - I'm pretty sure the 4th is being sat upon by the top bird. Judging by the angles/directions of the feathers & wings.

That was a nice, loud chirp by the little birdling!! It's hard to believe these guys were inside small eggs less than two weeks ago!! They sure did grow fast!!!! It has been fun to watch them develop. Thanks Kara and your DH for spending so much time taking pictures of them and posting for us to see.

My dogs are searching the living room for a bird! They keep woofing under their breath.

The baby chirps are so sweet! I wish they'd stick around for a while. You may have to sit out there and scare away the kitties for a few days when they start to fly!
