We used cloth diapers and the best things in the world were more diaper, more diapers, a wet bag, and more diapers.

No matter what type they are using, adding a couple of Bum Genuis or Fuzzy Bunz diapers I'd promise would be appreciated. They do get expensive, but they last forever. The Bum Genius ones are made to be one size, so they can wear them from newborn to toilet training. Even if they already have a stash of diapers, a couple more really nice ones are a huge treat. They come in such fun colors, it's fun to pick them out.

Also, if they are using cloth, try a diaper cream like Butt Paste because it doesn't build up and waterproof the diapers like other creams can.

You could include all of the supplies to make their own wipes. A plastic tub with a lid, a roll of Viva paper towels (or small square fabric pieces), baby soap (preferably natural), and olive oil or sweet almond oil. You can also add some lavender or tea tree oil. Then print the instructions on a pretty card.

You might also look up the numbers for poison control, their pediatrician, etc. Print all of the numbers on a piece of card stock and stick a couple of magnets on the back. Leave a few empty lines for them to write important numbers of their own on.
