A quick hi. I'm going away for the night with a friend. She has to go on an overnight for work. I think it's about 3 hours away. She only works tomorrow morning so we have all of today to ourselves. It's only a night, but I'm glad to get away.

Let's all take a moment for Mr. Polley. I would hate to live without my remote.

 to everyone!

Today was our first day of summer vacation and we're spending it in grand style.

DH's grandma is still kicking... her kidneys are still failing but they've done a blood transfusion, colonoscopy, back surgery.

Since the surgery she's perked up but that doesn't change the fact that her kidneys are still failing.

I just don't know what to think.

...

My facebook friends know this--Boo and I spent most of yesterday and today in the E.R. and orthopedist's office. She fell yesterday and broke her left arm. She has a cute pink cast, and seems okay with everything. I've been a freaking nervous wreck. Dan asked the nurse in the er if there was something they could give to me. She's fine, but what a night and morning!

When I first read this on FB, I thought it was the DD who's heading to WDW with you and thought, Oh no!! And since she seems to have taken it all in stride, I'll just add that I hope you are doing better!!.....lol!

Speaking of remotes, we finally got a full line-up of channels on our cable package!!! :cool1: Very sad, really, how much we missed and how much it feels like life has returned to "normal." It's just so nice to have the History Channel back! DS10 and I watched a marathon of American Pickers last night.....:thumbsup2

Lookie. . .my ticker. . .

Lookie lookie!!! Almost there!

Is there a reason for all this other stuff being done if nothing is being done about the kidneys? :confused3 I mean I don't know what they can do, but it seems like a lot of stress to put her through if, in the end, it's all for naught. Big hugs for you kwit.....:grouphug:

LM: Im doing better now. Boo seems to be fine. She only Ned's meds for pain once yesterday. That is a good sign.

I'm packed and ready to go. Thursday can't get here soon enough.

Neither can 4 weeks from now......I just bought our park tix!!!!

:banana::banana::banana:

I decided to go ahead and spring for them now. There is no discount on a 1-day ticket, and all those "in the know" say that based on last year's date of June 12th, and the fact that Disneyland just raised prices, they expect WDW to follow suit any day now. It was worth the $5 shipping, and the fact that once there, we can proceed straight to the gate. :moped:

That is so worth the $5. I'm thinking they are going to have everything out in June as well. Which almost certainly means raises in ticket costs.

She is refusing all kinds of blood filtering methods. After many rounds of chemo, she wants nothing do to with it.

They're trying to figure out a nursing home to move her into soon.

I just have to get through it.

I hope it doesn't raise June 12th. We want to get our tickets for our POSSIBLE next year trip, but we weren't planning on it until August. That'll make things a little :crowded:.

At least I agreed to terms for a wedding in late September. That'll be a head start on the trip. That'll pay for most of DH's and my tickets if we go through UT.

I hope the prices don't go up in June either. We don't renew our annual passes until August. I'm not sure if we can renew much earlier to get in before the increase.

I have a DVC question for you MQ...

DH is still hedging on next May. I'll be able to pay for the adult tickets (almost) with money from the wedding. We know we want to rent points, but DH won't give the final word until February.

How successful could we be at getting our choice resort less than 3 months out? I'm completely stressed out over the idea that we possibly couldn't get in to BWV that close. We're planning on being here for SWW/Memorial week.

3 months out you are not likely to get your choice with points. You'd be more likely to get SSR or OKW because the resorts are larger. I'm not saying it's impossible, but not likely. For a holiday week, it's even more unlikely.

Blerg... I was afraid of that.

I have no desire to stay at SSR or OKW. I know they're gorgeous but I feel like they're too removed from the parks. If I'm going deluxe, I want to be right there. :sad2:

I wish DH would just make up his dang mind!

I apologize if I missed this info earlier, but is there a reason you are trying to rent points?? And, even if that's what you really, really want to do, why not just book a room now (or over the summer, or whenever), then that way you'd at least have a 2nd choice. That way, if it falls through for next year, you simply cancel the room and get your deposit back. If it comes together, but you can't get the DVC option you want, at least you have a room already booked. If you are looking at a holiday time, you'd be better off booking something sooner than later.

I think LM has great advice. You could even book the Dolphin or Swan as a backup because the area is the same, the transportation system is the same, but the price per room is cheaper than the rack rate for Boardwalk, Beach Club, or Yacht Club. You can always cancel if you are able to rent the points (which is usually much cheaper than paying regular room rate.) Or you could just convince your DH to buy DVC resale for BWV and use the points now to rent the room and cancel later if you can't make it. I like the last option best.

Shay, you are the biggest DVC enabler I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.

We were thinking of DVC finally this year. . .until we started thinking of private school. We've always been adamant that if public school paid our salaries, then it was good enough for our children. But there's been a big influx of gang activity, school shootings that don't make it to national news, bomb threats, and dumbing down curriculum. We're seriously thinking of the private school our church runs as a ministry.

Hey!!....amanda!! Shouldn't you be PACKING???! What are doing hanging around with a bunch of fruit?!!!
