...well, I for one, am glad that the snow steered clear north of us....I've had enough to last a lifetime...

Oh it's coming!! Snowing fairly heavy here right now. :thumbsup2

.

I'm ready and waiting. It's too bad they couldn't have got in a 1/2 day. They already have tomorrow off (workshop) and Monday is a holiday. The students are happy now, but won't be come June when they have to go longer to make up for the snow days.

All of you talking about the small paychecks. It makes me think. . .tomorrow I get paid for the first time since December 16. They pay us before Christmas break twice and then not again until two weeks after school gets back in. For my husband it is worse--he doesn't get paid until next week. It's been a skimpy week this week, but at least we didn't use credit cards!

Which leads me to another situation. . .our district is asking for more and more of their teachers. In the past, I have been happy to stay there, because even if we were paid lower, we were treated as professionals. Now, we have more and more to do for less pay. I can go to Horry County (Myrtle Beach area) and make a great deal more money doing the same amount of work. I talked to a friend of mine who is a principal at a school there, now I just need to make a decision. If you are a praying person, please help me pray for a decision that is best for my family. If not, please send positive thoughts. I love the school I am at--I've been there for a long time and change is hard. Obviously I am not making mention of this over on Facebook because I have coworkers and supervisor there as friends and there is no reason to cause undue stress to people or fuel a rumor mill. I'm going to talk to my principal in the next couple of days to tell her my position.

Anywho, TIA.

Sending positive thoughts your way Amanda. I know you are a smart person and will make the best, well-thought out, decision for you and your family.

creativeamanda, good luck in your decision. I am thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way. Change is difficult. If it comes to the point, you are treated poorly and dread going to work, you need to do what's right for you and your family. Your peace of mind and happiness is important.

Hey, look, Kimmar pfffft herself.

:scared1:

Would this change involve a move for your whole family? Or is it close enough to where you live now to still commute? It's a big decision regardless.

It's still close enough to drive. There is an off chance it will be a longer (maybe 10 minutes) drive, but my friend says since I want the western part of the county and not a job closer to the beach, I have a better chance of being closer to home. Two schools in particular, however, are closer to my home than the school I am presently at, but my preference would be to be at the school she is. Not because she is my friend, but because it's a National Blue Ribbon school and I could take my youngest child there for next year.

You can have mine, Smileybug!! :rotfl: Actually we didn't get all that much snow (maybe 6" if that) but now we've got sleet and freezing rain this morning. Remembering why I hate New England winters so much. Kids have a 2-hour delay this morning. I thought this was all done as of last night but I guess it's supposed to continue through the day. I may have to postpone grocery shopping until tomorrow, unless I go to Shaw's instead -- it's just up the road but more expensive. ::sigh:: :guilty: I don't really want to go tomorrow. Blah.

Sunday's my berfday and I'm goin' to the Yankee Candle flagship store in MA. :dance3:

.

....well don't look at ME!

Yer just jealous.

Just once in a while I would love to have that kind of weather. I would sit by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate or hot apple cider with a cinnamin stick in it and read. And I would do all of this while not feeling guilty about doing nothing. :cloud9:

I hope you have a great time exploring the Yankee Candle store. :goodvibes
And happy early berfday.

We didn't get as much snow as expected either. We are expecting freezing rain on and off this morning too. Shaws IS more expensive.

Happy early b-day. Enjoy the store. :)

Might be difficult not to feel guilty b/c if you are sitting by the fire doing nothing someone else is out shoveling, sanding and cleaning the cars off. :lmao: Thankfully my car is in a garage, but the others are not. I soooo appreciate my garage.
