I guess I should recap who is on this trip. Myself, DH, DS-11 (the arguer, aka Daniel), DD-6 (the helper, aka Holly), DD-1 (the birthday girl, our little alarm clock, aka Ella).
Well, we got a little wake up call from Holly at 12:02 a.m. She was sound asleep but singing in a loud and clear voice "Happy Birthday to you". She's sleeping in bed with me so I reached over and gave her a good little shaking. I live in fear that Ella will get woken up. But she didn't. Neither did Holly, she still doesn't remember anything about it. We have been singing that song alot lately, maybe we should stop after this next PS.
At around 7:15 I got up and began getting ready because I do take the longest about it. Plus, I can't do much once Ella is up. She likes to cuddle and snuggle for a while and we did not have much time for that on this particular morning. Cindy could not be kept waiting!
I started waking up the others at around 7:40. "Where are we going today?" asks DH. He really and truly has no clue. I do all the planning, he just shows up and has the fun. I had told him the day before about going to the Princess breakfast at the castle. "Oh yeah, that means we get to get on the rides before everyone else is in the park, right?" he says. That's all he needs or wants to know.
Holly got dressed in her Alice in Wonderland dress and Ella wore her Sleeping Beauty dress. Too cute.
Daniel wants to be buy his own Pal Mickey. He has enough money and he really wants his own. Aaaargh! We don't need two!
Our PS is at 8:15 so we really have to bust a move. I threw everything we needed for the day in my bag and we headed for the monorail. It came pretty quick and we arrived at MK at 8:10. We got through security and the ticket taker and DH and Daniel ran ahead to sign us in. I let Holly hop on the back of Ella's stroller to make better time (it's one of those with a place for a "small" child to stand, but Holly is six years old and weighs 47 pounds). I huffed and puffed and pushed them up Main Street and up and around the castle. Combined weight of stroller and girls - over 80 pounds. I figured I got to eat extra good for this!
We got seated right away and the server brought out juice, fruit and a yogurt dipping sauce, some pastries and breads. Then we were offered the choice of a hot typical breakfast (eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats) or a big fruit dish of some kind. We got the hot plate and the kids got waffle sticks, bacon and eggs. Daniel ate the sausages that came with mine and some bacon. Holly nibbled around on this and that, but she can never eat much at these Princess meals. We were offered seconds, Daniel got more bacon of course.
The Princesses and Ladies that came to the table were Mary Poppins, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Belle (dressed in her everyday dress), and Cinderella. No Prince of any kind but we were surprised and pleased to see Sleeping Beauty. She hadn't been there on our previous visits. Ella liked all the princesses and got another cupcake and verse of "Happy Birthday", another autographed card and then we were on our way.
It had just turned 9:00. We went straight to Dumbo because there was NO ONE IN LINE! How often do you get to do that? Like, never. Ella saw the Carousel and started clapping, so what could we do? They all hopped on while I video-taped and ducked into Tinker Bells shop for a quick look-see. I did a quick mental inventory of what they had.
I should mention, as it is pretty pivotal in our story, that I use hand sanitizer and baby wipes like a mad woman. I clean their hands after every trip to the restroom, even if they washed in there. I clean their hands before they eat or even drink anything. I wipe down the bars on the rides before Ella's little hands touch them. I swat their hands away from their faces and noses if it looks like they are even thinking about touching them. I'm like SuperMom, defender against all germs in the world. I did NOT want anyone to get sick on this trip.
Our plan was to head to Epcot right after breakfast and as tempting as it was to stay and keep riding with no lines, we had already ridden most of it the day before and they were dying to try Mission Space, so we headed back to the front to catch the monorail to TTC.
We arrived at EPCOT at 10:00. We were in line at the security table and Holly starts jumping up and down. She has to go to the bathroom RIGHT now! I looked around and the nearest one was way over there and it was almost our turn to be searched. Only we got in the line with the security guard from hell! She was checking every nook and cranny in every pocket and zipper on every bag she could find. I wanted to jump lines, but then I always think it makes me look suspicious.
As soon as we got done with our complete physical examination, I took Holly straight to the restroom. She made it in time but did have what appeared to be the Ella bug. Only Ella's bug was more throwing up and this was ...... the other thing.
She seemed OK and in good spirits so I sent her with DH and Daniel to ride Mission Space. There's no way I will ever, ever be able to ride that one. I get car sick, plane sick, boat sick, tea cups do me in and I can barely ride a carousel horse. It's a pitiful existence. It was a 15 minute wait so they went in while I went to get FastPasses for Test Track.
Ella wanted to go to sleep but again, she prefers to curl up on her tummy to go night-night and there's no way of doing that in this stroller. This angered the little one! Her will is so strong, but so is mine. I pushed her around for about 15 minutes while she screamed and cried and passers-by gawked and made sorry-looking faces at me. Thanks people, that helps me soooo much.
She was still crying when they got off the ride and Holly had the need to visit the restroom again. DH pushed Ella for 5 minutes and that just happened to be the time when she finally gave out and went to sleep, but of course he proclaimed himself king of getting babies to sleep! Very annoyed with him, I went in MouseWorks to do some shopping.
I found a little something for my sister-in-law who couldn't come with us on this trip and got a few postcards while the others rode Test Track. I kind of wanted to ride, but I more wanted and needed to shop.
Next we headed to World Showcase to try and see a few of the Santa Claus'. Ella woke up in front of Mexico so we went in and did the boat ride which she loved and clapped and danced the whole time through. We bought her a Mexican rattle (not its real name, its really a musical instrument that you shake, drawing a blank).
We stopped in at Norway and then on to Germany. DH went to get a "real" hot dog (he said this with much gusto, DH's Dad's family has German roots). We waited for Saint Nicholas and listened to his story. Very nice. Holly had been learning about him in school this past week and got her picture taken with him to show her class.
Time to take Holly for another restroom break and then we got lunch at America. Got the chickies (chicken fingers to the rest of the world).
On to Japan. Holly was so thrilled to see how much Hello Kitty
merchandise they had in there! Really, I've never seen so much stuff in one place. She loves Hello Kitty and it's really hard to find very much of it in stores. She bought a Hello Kitty doll wearing a Cinderella gown and we were out of there.
It was past 2:00 so we decided to head back to the hotel for naps and sunning time for DH and Daniel.
At some point during the day Daniel bought himself a Mickey Mouse football and this seemed to calm his need for his own Pal Mickey.
The line to the monorail was all the way down to the beginning of the ramp so we had to wait a little to get on. Don't know what the reason for that was. Just wanted to get back to my room at the Grand Floridian for a little rest and relaxation.
This concludes the good part of our day.
By the time Ella got to sleep it was about 3:30, so I knew our plans to go to MGM that night were blown. It closes at 7:00, she needs to sleep until at least 5:30, no way it can be done.
I promised Holly she could get in the pool for a little bit if she rested first. After an hour I woke her up and told Daddy would take her out now. I went to get her swimsuit out, came back and she was back to sleep. Hmmmm, she must feel worse than I thought.
The boys came back about 10 minutes after that and they both looked like they'd been beaten up. "We don't feel very good", they say. I brushed it off as running around too much and not
giving themselves a break. They had been throwing that Mickey football around on the beach for over an hour.
Daniel took a shower and the girls had baths. DH wanted to get something to eat, he needed energy. I wanted to try Beaches and Cream, but as usual DH missed the turn for it and once he's
passed something by, forget it, he's not turning around.
So we drove, and we drove and we drove and we went the wrong way again and ended up on that darn toll road. Had to pay the toll to get on it and again when we had turned around to get off it.
Finally made it back to the Main Gate area and went in an Uno's. DH ordered clam chowder, I got a pasta dish, Holly got chickies and Daniel, who looked completely wiped out, didn't want
anything but I ordered him a cheese pizza.
Took a reeaaallllly long time for our food to come. It's getting pretty obvious that the boys really do not feel good. We just started eating when Holly started making a coughing-gagging sound and I rushed her to the restroom. She didn't throw up and said she was OK. Went back out and Ella had thrown up a tiny bit. We paid the bill and left. Didn't eat a thing.
DH is really complaining now. No one is ever as sick as when my DH is sick. Daniel fell asleep on the 10 minute ride back.
DH went to park the van. Still refuses to valet. He tossed his cookies somewhere in that self-parking lot.
When we got back to the room everyone completely flopped. I think we were in bed by 9:15. I still felt OK. I just finished giving Ellla her bottle and sat her up to burp her and she threw up all over me, the bed, the floor. I cleaned her and me up, laid towels on the wet spots and went to bed.
It was going to be a long night.
Well, we got a little wake up call from Holly at 12:02 a.m. She was sound asleep but singing in a loud and clear voice "Happy Birthday to you". She's sleeping in bed with me so I reached over and gave her a good little shaking.
