Is anyone experiencing the same difficulties as us. It would appear that BA are not releasing any of their 2 lowest class fares, even for 14 December. Flights currently 608.50 each with BA in economy. £230.00 each more than we paid December 2005 :confused3

If anyone booking around 16th, it would be great to hear your feedback. :chat:

Is that price for a one way ticket or return as I didn't think the return segment was released yet?

Have looked at the BA website and can get a return price dep 14th return 28th for £568, VA won't give a price needs to be less than 337 days out for the return flight.

I just priced up 2 weeks from 14th - 28th Dec on www.ba.com and it's come to £568.50 - I'm not sure if you have a different return date though?

It is on the expensive side, although it is over Christmas. All I can say is that we have up to now had over 30 guests to our wedding book BA flights to Tampa this November, and depending on when they booked, people have paid between £288 - £450 return, even for exactly the same dates. Even though BA still have their sale on, there are no seats at sale prices left, the price is currently £398.

I know they do release different fares in blocks, and that once so many seats are booked at a chepaer price, the price goes up, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. It's worth checking back very regularly though because as I say, over the last 6 weeks or so, our price varied a lot - but up and down, not just up up up.

Claire - it's happened again lol. You must type faster than me!

Lol Kristie :D

Agree about BA prices starting good and then going up as more seats are sold. We booked BA for Lanzarote last Feb for travel last October at £188 each, when I looked in May it was about £225 and in Sept the price was £285 and then after that no more so price does go up nearer to departure.

I will say that BA and Virgin had a sale on from August this year to November time for winter flights this year - so maybe you might be able to get the cheap flights if you hold out?

We booked our flights with Virgin in December for this February and got all 3 tickets for £776! :flower:

I spoke to BA directly this morning. The return date of 1 Jan is not showing on their website, but they will give you a price over the phone. Our TA is very good and is keeping us informed, but I think if its a £900.00 increase for us on last years flights we may have to look at indirect :sad1:

If you go on Friday December 15th that is £50 cheaper than Thursday December 14th!!

If you want to book early then one option is to book a flydrive. You don't need to pick up the included car; you can organise your own rental car or transfers.

We booked out Virgin flydrive back in October 2004 for our 2005 Christmas trip.

The flight prices for this year do seem quite a bit more expensive than last year. I think we paid about £400 for return VA flights for the 16th December last year!

Looks like only UC on a Virgin Fly Drive leaving Dec 14th 2006!!!

Hello Twinks,

I have a booking with BA Holidays flying out of Gatwick on 16th December, returning on 30th December 06.

The flight cost for four adults (the kids pay full fare) = £1700 - £425 each). The car hire element = £375 for a Group I4 car through Alamo.
Total = £2075.

I booked this back in January 05 and have just received confirmation.

Thanks Camac I will have a look at that one and see what prices are coming out like now.

At the moment it appears that the long haul flights are being released at the higher proces and are then falling later, I had been watching Feb 2006 and September 2006 and thay have come down. Flights tend to vary in price, but wit the high porces they look to be wanting to get flights sold to those who want to buy in advance and the price is not as important. I would watch out and know what I want to pay, and then when it hits that proce buy them. At the current rate I would be very surprised if these do not come down.
