B2B change - Port Canaveral

Our most recent B2B they said we could run back to the room but that once new passengers started boarding we would have to choose between staying in the room or staying out of the room until they open for everyone.

I can understand them taking your key card if you are changing rooms but not if you return to the same room.
Your key card is probably programmed for so many days and the last day of your cruise it will probably open
your stateroom door until about midnight.
I do not think it is an IT issue, it would just be the way key cards have to be programmed.
I think the only way to prevent something happening like someone going back to a room with an old key card
would be for Disney to have every key card manually deactivated as you leave the ship.
Wouldn't that be a nightmare?

Hotels manage to program key cards until a specific time of day. That’s why you usually need to get your key card reprogrammed when you ask for a late checkout.

You are right.
It is an IT issue.
But that means Disney IT would need to be smart enough to think about that before they set the program
that sets the time the card keys can function.
And if they hadn't encountered a problem of someone reusing their key after they were supposed to be out of the
room they probably wouldn't have thought about it.
That would give Disney IT to much credit.
After all, everyone is supposed to off the ship by what, 9-10?
So they would not need to set a time limit on the card, which would be an extra step, just the day.

Just did a B2B on the Magic in PC. There was a change in the procedure since our last B2B. Now, DCL physically takes your key cards from your first cruise before allowing you to leave the ship to clear customs for the second cruise. Other cruisers with us were not pleased with the change and wanted their key cards back to add to their souvenir collection. We were allowed to go to guest services to request the key cards back, but they really didn’t want to give them back.

We were told it was a security issue due to an incident that happened in the last year. Wouldn’t elaborate. Wonder what someone did to change the whole DCL B2B procedure?
We did B2B2B this past May - Fantasy - short sailing prior to TA then first European sailing out of BCN. Key cards pulled in PC but not in BCN. We changed staterooms in BCN, our bags were shifted and we were back in our new stateroom well before they had started boarding. We had connected with new stateroom host prior to disembarkation from the TA to coordinate as we moved from port to starboard.
